The game has passed Capers by. If we don't make the postseason or if we do and we lose in the same choking manner as the previous 4-5 years, he has to be fired. HAS TO BE.

So if Detroit loses next week, we could also lose to Minnesota and then win the division next week, right?

If we lost, I would have been fine with Capers being fired immediately.

We lose the tiebreaker against pretty much every team ahead of us except the Giants and they are one win away from being out of reach in the standings. The easiest path to the playoffs has always been the division.

If the Lions beat the Cowboys next week,they could potentially be in a situation week 17 where if they win they get the #1 seed and if they lose they could completely miss the playoffs.

That would be crazy.

It is but no coach ever would throw a game like that unless there was zero chance to win the wild card.

I'd bet it hasn't,that scenario is unlikely but it could get interesting if the Bucs beat the Cowboys tonight.The Cowboys are @Eagles week 17,that will be a tough game on the road in the cold for Dallas.

If the Bucs win tonight,Lions beat Dallas next week,Eagles beat Dallas in Philly and the Seahawks lose 1 of their final 2 that will be the scenario for the Lions going into week 17 vs the Packers which I'm assuming will be the moved to the Sunday night game.

Lions would get the #1 seed with an 11-5 record,Lions lose to the Packers and go 10-6 the Packers win the division and the Lions would lose tie breakers for the wild cards with the Giants/Bucs/Falcons by virtue of head with the Giants and worse division records with the Falcons or Bucs.

It's all moot if the Cowboys beat the Bucs tonight.

I know the Bronco's were in a similar situation just last season with 2 weeks to play, however New England wrapped up the #1 seed in their 15th game so that didn't happen.

Actually the Giants would have to lose their final 2 for that to happen.

Again, it's unlikely but a somewhat possible scenario for the Lions week 17

Lost in Capers' garbageness is Rodgers' inability/unwillingness to take the quick throws on 3rd down, which helped get us into that predicament.

This season for Sitton is proving that the Packers made the right move releasing him.

I can't tell if this is scheme, Rodgers, or both. But man you should never get sacked on 3rd and short (or 4th and short) after you've had 3-4 seconds to find someone.

I think that is waaaaaay down on the worry list. Drops, special teams, lack of a durable rb, anything related with the d all cost us more than Rodgers not making the quick throw. And when he holds the ball it isn't always a negative. It obviously limits tos but it also created plays where he was able to get guys a split second later when a lesser qb would've gone with his first read. I get the sacks are annoying but you have to live with that side of Rodgers sometimes. He can't make the right read 100% of the time of knowing when to get rid of it and when he can hold it a little longer. He still seems to think he can make plays with his legs when he obviously can't.

I hope we're working on some play-action-y type wrinkles with Ty in the backfield- fake handoffs that get him on a LB, or set him up for a screen. Maybe mix in some jet-sweep/reverse/fake-reverse stuff with Janis. Maybe some sets with Ty and Cobb in backfield. Package plays, etc.

Ty running out of the backfield is so successful, its ripe for further misdirection stuff based off that.

I don't have much hope even if the Packers make the playoffs.

Everyone wants to only blame Capers for the woes on defense and sure he deserves some blame, but he's working with a group of weak pass rushers at OLB, the DL can't create any pressure, the ILB talent is mediocre, and the corners as a group stink with Shields out. Only the safeties are a talented unit. I'd rather Capers just rushed three most passing downs. Four at most given the pass rushers suck and the ILB's aren't skilled at blitzing..

Ted has used a ton of picks in the first four rounds on the defense over the last few years and hasn't hit nearly enough.

Even if Capers gets canned after the season, this defense needs a serious infusion of playmakers and overall talent. Say they remain a 3-4.

OLB-- Peppers will likely either retire or be let go. Clay's body seems shot or close to it. Could get cut or asked to take a pay cut. Jones sucks. I wouldn't trust paying Perry beyond another one year deal. There are no talented youngsters waiting in the wings.

CB-- Shields should retire. Randall is erratic at best. I thought Rollins would be good, but he's been awful. Gunter is a solid backup caliber. Then ummm.

DL-- Solid vs the run and mostly just bodies as pass rushers.

ILB-- I like Ryan

It's crazy just how much better Ted has drafted on the offensive side of the ball for many years now compared to the defensive side. So frustrating as every year with Rodgers ticks away. This has to change, regardless of who is running the defense after this year. Bad defensive teams don't win titles.
