Like it
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Sounds slow/undynamic.

He's a grinder that really wears down defenses. Monty/Williams is a nice complementary pair.

But has great vision, patience and power. Monty is our dynamic guy.

Don't like it. Tank type guys who aren't receivers don't do well in our offense IMO.

But won't pretend I know what I'm talking about here. 8-)

They should all be dynamic. If they're not a threat to house it, they're not taking attention off Rodgers. I feel like there are 20 guys just like this every year. What differentiates him? What makes him better than John Crockett?

That's the difference between a street FA and a 4th round pick?

I mean, it's not like he can't take it to the house, he just doesn't have elite burst. He has fantastic feel as a runner. We have always valued backs with great vision and patience.

I would have preferred McNichols, but getting a polished guy like Williams is good value. I think he'll be a good one.

Not a fan of the scouting reports, but the highlight videos show much more elusiveness than I expected...Maybe a poor man's Curtis Martin somewhat?

I don't know anything about him, but he'd offer something different in the backfield.

His frame reminds me of Starks.

I was just reading hes regarded as one of the better pass catchers in the draft. He had 60 receptions so thats not just projection.

Not surprised at all by this one right or wrong they always seem to want a bruiser at rb and he fits that.

I watched most BYU games. He isn't ever going to be a feature back but can contribute ala Starks in his prime.

Meh. You aren't going to get a great all around back at this point, but at least try to get someone with one quality that stands out. Speed. Pass catching. Shifty. Etc.

The little that I have seen of him he appears kind of unique. He gets the tough yardage but also is good at catching the ball, contrary to what some say doesn't appear patient at all and just hits the whole and doesn't wait for blockers. Considering all they have right now behind Montgomery is Micheal and Jackson I am all for giving this guy a shot.

Starks had enough speed that if he made a guy miss in the 2nd level, you'd have to chase him down. I see a bunch of highlights with this guy where nobody has any trouble reading the angles. Pro game is just different. I'm not saying this guy is necessarily a bad player, but I am saying that I think philosophically he's not the type of guy we should be adding. I'd say the same about a guy like prime Alf Morris, who was a damn good player, but would not have been good for us overall. It will never be advantageous to us to do the ground and pound thing. I want Ty's backup to basically be Ty. To affect the game in the same ways. His concern is durability, not that he can't chew up tough yards.

Most of his receptions at BYU were his first two seasons. Whether that was scheme or him, I don't know.

Also had a torn ACL previously. Ted obviously saw something here he really liked.

Even more than Jamaal Williams the player, we loved Jamaal Williams the man.
