Not a fan of having Michael on the roster, so I am good with this

Drumming up some competition in the DB and RB rooms.

One of the best pass catchers in the draft at RB. 71 catches for his career, 1773 yards on the ground last season.

Indeed. For those of you questioning this pick, I think it has to do with lack of familiarity. This is a Packer guy through and through. And, i see us next season w/ a Monty, WIlliams, Jones backfield. I like it. My first college roommate is an El Paso native. He breathes UTEP (poor soul) and he touted this guy for months. I started watching him a bit. The guy is a legit under-the-radar prospect w/ 4.45 speed, strength, and the ability to shoulder the load. UTEP was pretty awful. Jones was pretty damn good.

I love in his interview yesterday he was begging for the Packers not to select a running back because he wanted to come here.

I shocked that anyone is shocked GB took 2 RB's, this cat is fast and explosive, definitely needed speed on both sides of the ball....Michael, won't make the team, surprised they brought him back.

He's gotten a lot of mileage at UTEP, but he's a baller.

A bit more:

This is a kid from a military background. He is used to and was raised in a regimented and disciplined environment. His transition should be an easy one. And, this is a kid who is ascending. He has put on some weight - I believe he was last at 208 - and gained explosion. He worked out at EXOS leading up to the draft and was considered one of, if not the, favorite athletes there due to his no-nonsense, respectful, and uplifting attitude.

Looks like our backfield is pretty set, even with lots of competition.

Sounds like he got a DWI.

Happened last spring. He entered a DWI diversion program (for first time offenders) and has been compliant every step of the way. Let's hope he's learned.

If you really want to dive deep, here's the video from the above twitter link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=14&v=lHAY9um3CRc

The one error listed above is Jones actually has 40 times in the sub-4.5 range (I've seen 4.8 and 4.9) though he did run a 4.56 at the Combine and a 4.56 at his Pro Day. So, perhaps the added weight has added some to his straightline speed? I linked the YouTube due to its 47 minutes of length.

great pick, and if he can pass block will be a huge plus on 3rd down. Him and Monty on either side of Rodgers on 3rd down in the backfield gives mm a lot of options.

I squandered an asset? Then Hammond taught me well.
