Northwestern in at 25. Iowa 20. MI not ranked which is odd. NW should win out (PUR, MIN, IL) and move up to top 20 which would give WI a boost. Beat IA this week. have MI come into the rankings next week. Beat them and the SOS looks much improved!

If the Badgers win next week, they should be guaranteed the 6th spot.
TCU, ND, Okl, Miami play each other and all would have 2 loses with a loss except Miami.

We would just need 1 of the winners to lose in a future week and a Clemson loss to control our own destiny and be solidly in the 4 spot.

Wouldn't even need one of those winners to lose in a following week if Miami is a winner next week*

* - This assumes that the committee isn't going to put a 12-1 Georgia with a loss to Bama in the playoff or a 12-1 Miami if they win this but lose to Clemson in the ACCCG.

If Miami beats ND this weekend, you've got a pecking order (not necessarily rankings) of

1. SEC winner (Probably Bama)
2. ACC winner
3. Assumed 13-0 Wisconsin
4. Big 12 winner if 1 loss
5. Loser of ACC/SEC or 2-loss Notre Dame or a PAC12 darkhorse.

Cephus is officially done for the season.

Not unexpected news but this is a brutal loss for the offense. He was playing some really good football.

I think they are now out of depth.

I don't think it's a huge loss if no more injuries occur. Davis, Pryor, Taylor can probably get the job done. Cephus was the best but I think this group can do the job. One more injury and they're boned. Same with linebacker and maybe safety.

Cephus looks pretty legit. He's the best looking WR we've had in a while, but you're right, we probably don't pass enough or have a good enough QB for it to really make a world of a difference. We should be able to get by, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we lose something there.

Would be nice if Jazz came back.

There are a stupid number of big games today. Basically everyone legitimately in the playoff race has a big game today against a ranked opponent - in two cases, against each other. The only exception is Clemson.

And Clemson was relatively close.

I get the complaints of possibly having a worthy candidate left out but this season has really played out where if you are good enough to be a national champion you can play your way into the playoff. We are just fighting over 1-2 loss 9th seeds at this point

Mississippi State lost this game when they had that godawful possession after the missed FG. They totally **** the bed.

Bama winning is probably good for Wisconsin.

MSU's QB on that final untimed down threw the ball like it was from their own 40. They were on the 34 - little excessive.

That blitz on 3rd and 18 was horrendous. They showed it, Alabama took a timeout to get a hot route, showed it again and hit the hot route with no defenders there to tackle him. Just rush 4 and put a spy on Hurts and the chances they convert there are probably 10% or less.

Miami is going to leap into the playoff, IMO. They'll replace Georgia.

And that's despite the fact that I think Notre Dame is always overrated by the voters.

These blowouts were great for Wisconsin too. If TCU and Notre Dame had lost on last second field goals or by 1 or something they would still be in the conversation. Now that they've been blown out and have two losses, they're done.

Herbstreit just put Miami at 4 and us at 5, so yeah.

Whatever. Still the same story. Need to win out.

I saw that, but I don't agree that Oklahoma should be #1. You can't put a 1-loss team ahead of Alabama or Miami.

I think Clemson is the most vulnerable team ahead of us, though. Their one loss is really bad. So even if all five teams win out, I could see us leaping them because their remaining schedule is weaker.
