I'm amazed at how many prognosticators are minimizing the loss of Edelman for the Pats. It's not easy to replace 98 catches and 1100 yards.

To be fair, they did bring in 78 catches and 1100+ yards.
They somehow salvaged Brady dying one year, I'm pretty confident they can overcome Edelman.

Just goes to show why a proactive GM is better than a reactive one.

Given all the problems with the NFL the health issues with football itself I am almost ashamed at how excited I am for football to be back.

I'm stoked for football to be back but man other than the pack seattle game it's really not a great slate of games.

Tonight.
Raiders - Titans
Packers
Giants - Cowboys
Both MNF games should be solid.
One game each time slot, works for me!

Agreed. The Raiders/Titans game should be good. Saints/Vikings is interesting, so is Cards/Lions. Giants/Cowboys is usually good.

When I'm betting the first place I start with is home dogs. This week's home dogs are:
Chicago +6.5 vs. Atlanta
Cleveland +9 vs. Pitt
Detroit +2 vs. AZ
Washington +1 vs. Philly
Niners +5.5 vs. Carolina
None of them stick out to me, if I had to choose I might take Detroit and Washington. Niners intrigue me, I don't think Carolina is going to be very good. But the Niners are very bad.

I have a system that I crunched some #s on over the past few years that in theory would have worked the past 10 years and worked for me last year. Detroit and the Bears are plays this week. I feel very uncomfortable about it but I'll probably make the bets on Sunday morning, especially if the Bears fall back to +7. Jets are also a play.
I generally do moneylines for dogs but other than the Lions those moneylines make me puke. Denver -3.5 and Vikings -3.5 are also on the cusp of plays.

I'd add Houston to that too. I think it might be up to -6 now, and their QB play is going to be suspect, but that stadium is going to be absolutely rocking with everything going on down there.

With the Patriots track record over the past 15 years it's almost comical to think that the Edelman injury will have a big (negative) impact on their season.
Hell last season Brady missed 4 games, Gronk missed 11 games including the playoffs and Super Bowl and the Pats still went 14-2 and won the Super Bowl.
Some guy at WR that no one has heard of right now, outside of die hard Patriot's fans, will probably have a big season.

Who thought this was the game to schedule to kick off the season? Should have been a rematch of the Super Bowl, at least give the Falcons a tough matchup before facing us.

Chiefs are one of those teams that always ends up being better than you think, probably because they have a really good coach.
