Let's be healthier, please. I don't want to see McCray as our RT.

Cowboys offensive line has looked human in recent games.

Everyone seems to forget that they lost two starters from that wall they had last season.

Yeah, but Tyron Smith has looked a bit stiff and slow during the last couple games I've watched them, and Travis Frederick has gotten thrown into the backfield in Linsley-like fashion.

Besides, they still have familiar faces on that OL. La'el Collins started last season at LG before being injured. He also started the bulk of the previous season. He moved to RT to replace Doug Free. The guy who replaced La'el at LG is Chaz Green, who has been on the roster since 2015 and has started 5 games over the last two seasons.

I'm hoping Danels and our OL return. It will be interesting to see what happens in the defensive backfield. Lost in the Randall situation is that Rollins only played one snap. Double busts.

I'd cut Randall today and bring Brown up from the PS. Donatello looked good in his few preseason opportunities. Start playing him and Pipkins along with increased snaps for Hawkins and I think we're good to go. We've already seen what happens with Randall & Rollins on the field. Time for some new blood. At least the new guys might show some effort.

Maybe the coaching staff sent him home? Either way it's not good, but if he just flat out left the stadium without telling anyone, then that's a hell of a lot worse and the team should suspend him.

As someone who is getting more and more on the "get proactive, TT" bandwagon, this is the one thing that scared me going into the season.

The course of action was, sign House (solid), draft King (rookie, but you can hope he's a contributor early), and bring in the usual UDFA/competition guys.

The problem is that last year we had 0 NFL caliber corners. I was OK with having Randall around again because the potential to get back to being a good corner that he looked like in his rookie year was there, but they were pretty much penciling him into being the #1 or #2 guy given that House is not elite and King might not have been a sure thing as a rookie.

One could argue they should have grabbed 5 or 6 new corners with NFL experience and/or higher-round draft picks and kept Randall on as the 7th. Instead, we got 2 new guys and we're already finding out that the other 4 are/were trash as expected.

I realize this isn't extremely easy given the players available in an NFL free agency cycle and limited funds available, but man, we knew that basically everyone at corner was a pile of garbage last season.

Didn't we bump threads from before last season where people were pretty unanimously feeling optimistic about our secondary? We felt great with Shields, Randall and Rollins as our three, Hyde as our four and maybe it was Goodson as our fifth.

I'd at least bring Revis in for workout

And I have no problem with that one. Shields, even if hitting the end of his prime, was a #1 corner. Randall showed promise to maybe be a #2, Rollins was OK as a rookie, Hyde was clearly a good NFL Swiss Army Knife in the secondary. It's fine to have your 5th corner as a "potential" UDFA-type. I'm not saying it was great going into the season, but I think Shields' career ending + 2 guys that were promising as rookies busting were the reason for a failure. That's somewhat understandable.

This year we went into the year with "solid #3 corner" signing, a rookie that while is talented, is risky in year 1, 2 reclamation projects, and some UDFAs.

That is an ocean of difference.

Yeah, I thought you were referring to going into last season, but I think I get you now.

As much as I give the defensive coaching staff crap, you can't honestly expect them to completely turn the entire secondary on its head and turn over your top 4-5 guys with rookies and free agents that are entirely new to the system. You had to bank on at least some improvement from Randall/Rollins even if last years returns weren't promising. All but given up on both guys now for different reasons, but finding quality corners is a lot like trying to find quality O-lineman. There just aren't that many good, available ones out there.

Trust me, I've come to the defense of TT for many years when the "OMG Jarrett Bush sucks" people came out of the woodwork when we had 4 injuries in the secondary. Obviously your 5th corner or your 8th lineman is not going to be very good 90% of the time.

This was different. These guys were historically bad last year, and while I totally understand that it's hard to find good corners, not a ton are available, we had limited resources, it's tough to acclimate an entirely new secondary...I don't give a ****. Take a leap of faith and bring in 5 new guys while letting Randall stick around to see if he can turn it around.

This was so painfully obvious that while I would have argued hard for keeping Randall to see if he can turn it around, there was a large, large chance that he busts and he was basically being counted on as your #2 corner, maybe #1 going into the season.

Thank god that King looks good. Either way, I think that even with House being fine when healthy and King looking good, the absolute dumpster fire of cornerback crew we have may very well derail the season in the playoffs.

Even despite R n R continuing to disappoint, (I for one thought at least one would rebound), it's hard to deny the pass defense has been significantly better. Yes Atlanta burned us. But they'll burn alot of good defenses and our secondary has held up more then we'll enough against the passing offenses that an solid group should slow down.

Yes that's not a high bar but it's still a night n day difference from last season where every QB looked like an MVP against us

I guess I just think they couldn't have done much more in attempting to upgrade the secondary without blowing the cap on expensive free agents. Invested a 1st round pick at the position, brought back a veteran who has experience in the system in House, and hoped that a healthy Randall would be better than an injured one like last season.

We really just need the secondary to be "mediocre" if the run defense and pass rush are legit (which they look to be after 4 games). A team is only as good as how it's able to overcome its biggest weakness, so yeah, I don't expect the secondary to improve a whole lot, but it's on the coaching staff to get them to at least an acceptable level. Reinforcements aren't coming (save for House getting healthy), nor do I think people should expect them at this point. Despite all the worry, they've held up pretty well outside of the Falcons game and the 1st half against the Bengals.

There were a lot of open lanes last night, Glennon just sucks. I'm not sure if it's better. We've faced a horrible offensive line that gives Wilson no time and Bad Bengals and Bears offenses. I need to see more before I say the defense and especially the secondary is significantly better.

One issue at cb was after the big money guys like gilmore and boye where off the board the rest of the crop sucked.
