Adams is a FA after this year. I think most of us agree we need to bring him back. But at what price? And how much $$$ do you invest in the WR position? Rodgers will turn 35 during the 2018 season and you have to give him weapons of course. Here's a synopsis.

Jordy will be in the last year of his deal in 2018. Base salary of $9.25 million, cap number of $12.55 million. He would count $2.3 million against the cap as dead money if released. He turns 33 in 2018. He has only 19 catches through 5 games, although 6 are for TD's. He hasn't really shown speed since his injury. But with our OL so banged up all year we haven't gone deep much anyway so it's hard to tell if Jordy can still get open much deep.

Cobb will also be in the last year of his deal in 2018. Base salary of $8.6 million, cap number of $12.75 million. He would count $3.25 million against the cap as dead money if released. He turns 28 in 2018. His numbers peaked in 2014. He missed 3 games last year and 1 so far this year.

So between Jordy and Cobb we will be allocating over $25 million next year. Can we accommodate Adams too? I believe if we extend Adams this season some of it could be counted on this years cap but we don't have all that much and TT likes to keep some space in case we have to sign anyone down the road. The "good" thing is that Jordy and Cobb only have 1 season left so maybe we can suck it up with all 3 for one more year. Rodgers is also be receiving a new deal in a year or two, probably next summer. That will factor in.

Looking at our other WR options: Allison will be a ERFA. I like him and he won't cost too much next year. Keep him. Davis and Janis. Looks like they will always just be special teamers. Maybe if Jones continues to run lights out they consider moving Ty back to WR. It's possible. Clark is on the PS, he'll certainly be given another look. And TT usually drafts a WR or two.

I'm keeping everybody -- they have the cap room to extend Adams at a good price. Let the Jordy situation play out too. Obviously he's been getting nicked up far more now as opposed to earlier in his career, but he's still a huge threat when he's on the field.

This is exactly why we trimmed the fat (no pun intended) on the O-line with Sitton and Lang. Need to retain Adams no matter the cost. I'd even make Cobb a cap casualty if it had to come to that, but I doubt that you'd need to. It's nice to have an FO that actually works the salary cap the right way.

Jordy's getting older and Cobb I think has lost a step already at 27-28 (crazy to think next year will be his 8th season). Greg Jennings started to decline around the same time, so Cobb's no spring chicken anymore either. Allison's a keeper too, and you can likely retain him on a cheap price tag. Davis is probably the wild card here. If he develops beyond a special teams guy and becomes a legit deep threat, then you're pretty set. Think we draft a wideout pretty high (2nd-3rd round) next offseason regardless though.

The two for sures- resign adams and draft a wr very early next spring.

Hard to say on cobb and nelson. Health the rest of the way will be part of it. Then you have to see where the cap is at and how much cash you will need for other positions. Theres a chance they keep both but I would still draft a guy high because sometime in the next two years you will need to replace one or both if these guys.

I think Jordy will be gone after next year. Maybe he gets a smaller deal like Driver did. I like Cobb but he's not worth what he's getting paid.

I think Cobb is going to have to renegotiate if something doesn't change dramatically. Maybe Jordy can extend and restructure as well.

There will be no renegotiation with Cobb.

They can afford to keep 3 high prices WRs on the team for a year and Jordy is gone when his contract is up. (If not he's on a cheap deal at that point)

Not really a big deal when it comes to keeping 3 high price wideouts for a year with our cap

Hopkins got 6yr/90 mil. Is that what Adams is going to get on the open market?

Well he's not as good as Hopkins and hasn't hit 1000 yards in a season yet. Open market probably though.

Signed the night before it opens? Probably in the area 4yrs/44 mill with around 20 guaranteed would be my guess

I'd offer Adams now roll a small portion into this year. Over the cap has the packers at 12.3 underutilized year able to roll over to next year. Next year is 28 mil under before the 12.3 roll over added (I think?). I'd true that's 41 mil. Could easily take 12 of that to Adams. Also clay is due 11.4 non guaranteed. So he may get a restructure to clear up more space

Yea there should be a renegotiation with Cobb because he's not worth what he's getting paid. Teams across the league find at least competent slot receivers without a high draft pick or big salary.

I really question if Montgomery can stay healthy as a RB and if Jones can stick as the best, put Montgomery in the slot if Cobb sticks firm.

It is only five games into the season though and maybe Cobb shows he can still make some plays.

I'm not sure we're on the same page. They won't renegotiate because Cobb won't take less AND we won't demand it. In other words we won't cut him if he doesn't. Plus he is on pace for close to 100 catches this year so far.

My main point is I see little to no problem with paying 3 receivers big money for a single season.

I've always thought Month would make a better RB then a WR so I'd rather keep him where he's at and use him in a Sproles like role

I don't remember if the Packers have ever asked a player to renegotiate. There have been candidates to do so (Clay).

TT likes to hold onto cap space during the season but I think once we get to December he will use a chunk of it and get Adams extended. Maybe he waits until the offseason. But I don't see Adams hitting the market.

Trade our 1st and 2nd round pick in two consecutive seasons for AJ Green so that we don't have to endure Ted drafting Safeties to play cornerback on the season opener.

Yeah you could be right. He was entering the last year of his contract I believe. He wanted an extension, they wanted him to take a cut. Instead he got cut.

I think it's inevitable that Clay is gone after this season. That should clear up a good chunk of cap space.

Clay has one year left at a $11.4 million cap number. BUT zero cap hit if released. Likely gone, especially if they plan to extend Rodgers after this season (he will have 2 years left on his deal). And they could actually cut Rodgers after this season with zero cap hit.
