Bob McGinn says the Packers "will win a lot of games" with Brett Hundley.

Of course, he also said they could go 11-5 without Rodgers in 2013, the week before he was injured.

Them running the ball is the best thing they can do for this defense above being good for Hundley. The Saints defense is awful. It's awful against the pass and only looks marginal vs. the run because nobody has to run against them.

It's every bit as bad as ours. They couldn't have asked for a better opponent this week at home. If you need your offense to gel this is who you want.

If the offense really struggles this weekend, like if they score 13 points, we are heading for 5-11.

Not dumb, just stubborn.

IF the O line is relatively healthy, I bet he's right.

Thinking the packers would need to score at least 35 with rodgers at the helm... i think hundley can get them 24 points against that defense. I think hundley turns it over a few times as well. Packers will need to generate at least 2/3 turnovers to make this game close. prediction 34-26 Saints :-(

McGinn predicted the Packers would NOT make the playoffs this year, before the season started.

No way he's playing yet this season, even if we are somehow still in the playoff hunt.

The Green Bay Packers are discussing whether to place quarterback Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve after his surgery Thursday to repair his fractured right collarbone, coach Mike McCarthy said Friday.

Rodgers tweeted late Thursday night his surgery “went well” and included an Instagram picture of himself in a hospital bed. McCarthy said Rodgers’ surgery was done outside Green Bay, and team doctor Patrick McKenzie was not the surgeon.

Surgery went well. Thanks for all the love, support, thoughts and prayers. #comebackstartsnow #riseagain #

The quarterback will not be at Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

“He’s out of town,” McCarthy said. “He’s in recovery mode right now.”

If the Packers place Rodgers on injured reserve, he will miss at least eight weeks and likely longer. Earlier this week, an orthopedic specialist told PackersNews.com the soonest he would expect Rodgers to play in a best-case scenario is 10 weeks after the injury.

McCarthy said Monday “potentially the season could be over” for Rodgers after he broke the collarbone connected to his throwing shoulder Sunday in the first quarter at the Minnesota Vikings. But the Packers have been careful not to prematurely make a roster decision with Rodgers.

If Rodgers is not put on IR, it could mean the Packers expect him to practice before the eight-week window ends. Players on injured reserve can attend meetings, but they are unable to practice.

“We’re actually discussing all the long-term options at this point,” McCarthy said. “The focus has been on Aaron’s health, making sure everything went well with the surgery, and those discussion will continue.”

McCarthy did not put a timetable on how long it will take the Packers to determine whether to put Rodgers on IR.

“I think it will be clear when the discussion is completed,” McCarthy said, “and we’ll make that decision.”

In other injury updates, McCarthy said right tackle Bryan Bulaga cleared concussion protocol Friday morning, a good sign he’ll be available against the Saints.

McCarthy said many of the 14 players listed on Thursday’s injury report remain on the bubble for this week. Among them figure to be left tackle David Bakhtiari (hamstring) and cornerback Davon House (quad).

“I’m hoping tomorrow brings good news,” McCarthy said. “I know all those guys saw Dr. (Patrick) McKenzie this morning in the training room. Today we don’t practice, but tomorrow’s practice will be the true test for the guys that are on the bubble.”

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

With Brett Hundley about to go Sunday in place of injured Aaron Rodgers, it might be instructive – or may help settle a bar bet, anyway – to look at the other quarterbacks who made their first NFL regular-season starts as members of the Green Bay Packers.

Here are the past 67-plus seasons’ worth, according to the statistics on ProFootballReference.com. Statistics before 1950 get a little sketchy.

For the record, the 17 QBs accounted for an 8-8-1 record in those first games, with 11 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions.

What the Packers won't admit is that how Hundley plays does have some influence on whether or not Rodgers returns this year. If they're 11-5 after the regular season and he is fully cleared he will play. If he is fully cleared and they're 6-8 I'm guessing he won't.

I don't think he'll be ready at any point physically, IMO.

Let's keep the Rodgers discussion to the QB thread for now.

If you don't think that Rodgers is gonna come up in every single discussion from now until he returns, you're nuts. Lol. It's inevitable; just deal with it.

Latest injury report has Burnett, Brooks, and Joe Thomas out for Sunday. Lane Taylor is doubtful, and Corey Linsley, Damarious Randall, and Davon House are questionable.

Bakh was limited in practice on Friday, while Bulaga was practicing in full again. Ty should be ready, too.

It's the Saints on grass. Not nearly as scary as the Saints on turf. Actually feeling a bit optimistic on this one seeing as how trash their defense is.
