Buccaneers Leadup Thread

Post#1 » by humanrefutation » Mon Nov 27, 2017 5:30 pm

Yesterday's game was the most fun I've had watching the Packers since A-Aron went down. Too bad it ended in a loss.

The 4-7 Bucs are in town to face us. They're 1-5 away from home. It'll be colder. We might be able to win this one.

Here's a great moment in Packers-Bucs History: Week 1 of the 1996 Season - Packers OVER Bucs, 34-3. Serves as one of my most vivid memories of the Packers Super Bowl season. Keith Jackson had three first-half touchdowns.

Yeah I can see us winning the next 2 (although it would be funny to lose to Cleveland). And if we're mathematically still in it then I assume Rodgers will play if cleared. I never root for losses but I hope that doesn't happen.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The offense has actually looked respectable the last two road games, but they've been absolute trash for the last two home games. I have no idea which team is gonna show up. If this were in the warm confines of Tampa I might actually feel better about it.

With the coaching changes in college, got to thinking about Jim Mora, fired at UCLA. I know TT and our scouts loved Mora's program (see Kenny Clark, Hundley, Jonathan Franklin, Datone Jones). Would McCarthy consider Mora as a DC if Capers moved on? He has plenty of NFL experience, ran a base 3-4, and is available. Seems much more likely than GB bringing in Badger guys like Aranda or Leonhard.

Packers will win just to give themselves a worst draft pick.

I'll be there -- my friend and his dad are diehard Bucs fans, and my friend's brother lives within walking distance of Lambeau. We had this pegged back when the schedule came out as a potential playoff preview. Whoops, lol.

As for the game itself, I liked how Hundley looked yesterday but the toughest thing for a young QB is to sustain success. He was god awful, obviously, last week after a good game against the Bears. I'll be shocked if he can have two games in a row.

If we can somehow win these next two games, we should still be in it due to Atlanta and Carolina's schedules down the stretch. I have a hard time believing we'll win two in a row, though, no matter who the opponent is.

Yes, please. Mora as a DC would be a pretty solid hire.

hoping for hundley to throw 3 tds and the defense blow it so we can expedite the capers firing... if the packers start the tank now and get a top 12 pick... what are your thoughts on FA next year? I am hoping for a mathews cut, jordy restructure, cobb cut/restructure... they would have 12.5 mil this year to roll over to next plus 43 mil (per overthecap.com) free next season... if the matthews is cut that's another 11 mil added.. 12.5 + 43 + 11 = 66 mil! that's not including a restructure of our WR's. Considering adams and burnett get resigned that could be about 20 mil eaten up... however, 45 million is a lot to spend. Would next year be the year they actually load up? They have to know that the end is near... rodgers is the only goddamn reason they have a shot... they need to get him help.

When Rodgers was throwing before the game last night he was still the best player in the stadium.

I want MM and capers to look extra foolish and lose.

I can't root for losses when I watch, so I have to skip watching then after it's over knowing the results do a recap on game pass.

I've seen more fire MM posts on FB then I've ever seen on social media. There is some momentum.

A loss to Tampa, then Cleveland would escalate that very quickly.

We did lose to a bad Tampa team years ago in 08 or 09, so I think it's possible (although that was in Tampa).

I was there it was an ugly game.

It would be ironic if we beat the Bucs and Browns with Hundley, then Rodgers comes back week 15 and we lose to the Panthers and Vikings. Although it would be shocking enough if the Packers win one game with Hundley let alone two, so I highly doubt that would happen.

And Rodgers needs to just sit until next season, at this point with the way the NFC is shaping up, even if we win out starting now and go 10-6 what are our chances of making the playoffs? 10%?

You're going to have 3 teams in the NFC south that will all probably go at least 10-6 and we've already lost tie breakers with the Saints and Falcons. We're obviously not winning the NFC north at this point. You still have a shot at the Panthers , but they're 8-3 so even if we beat them you'd have to hope they go 2-2 in their other 4 games.

It looks incredibly bleak, and even this is assuming if we win out. With our last 3 games being @Carolina vs Minnesota and @Detroit, we might have finished the season 0-3 even if Rodgers had never gotten hurt.

I hate to break it to you guys, but there is no way MM is getting fired after this season.....it's just not gonna happen. If you want to root for something attainable, there is a slim chance that Capers could get the hook after this year, although even that seems like a long shot, when taking history into account. If you want changes in the Packers coaching staff and management, you'd better hope for either resignation or retirement, for those are the only two feasible ways anyone will lose their job around here.

Knowing this, I'll hold out hope that the team can manage to win two winnable games, and then AR can come back to win the last three. Maybe then, by some small chance, they squeak into the playoffs, and I'll have something to entertain me this winter. If not, oh well, it's just same old same old next year...

If you have a healthy rodgers in the playoffs you always have a chance.

Aaron shouldn't come back... he does look like he's healing fast but that's still an injury I'd be much more comfortable seeing him play 3 months after rather than 2 months after surgery which would be Week 15.

We need a higher pick, we need TT to retire, we need Capers to go.

I can see Carolina losing 3 of their final 5 games. Atlanta very well could too. One of them is losing one for sure as they play each other, and Carolina still plays us. If we're going to actually somehow sneak in (lol), Carolina faltering would be better because we would have to beat them anyway and then we'd have the tiebreaker on them.

Like I said earlier though, I'd be very surprised if we won both this game and next week's game, so everything is most likely going to be moot anyway.
