For a kid who has pro aspirations changing to tOSU makes little sense. Wisconsin has more NFL QB's than they do.

Urb has had this strange ability and affinity for working with guys that don't throw a good ball but are 5-star college talents.

Barrett is just mediocre with wheels and arm. Braxton Miller did not have a great arm. Tebow was good enough to be drafted round 1 but obviously trash in the NFL. Leak was adequate across the board. He had Alex Smith at Utah.

I get what you're saying, but give Meyer someone that translates better to the NFL and he'd probably do just as good of a job.

If you wanna go way back, the only QBs making a dent right now from Urban or UW/Chryst are Wilson and Alex Smith.

Significant dent sure but still Wisco produce a couple career back ups who stuck on NFL teams. I think the 2nd string QB is one of the best jobs in the NFL.

Is this a suggestion that it may have something to do with Mertz?

The timing is interesting, but it's probably a guy realizing that he's stuck behind Hoskins officially and just being ready to transfer.

Every single year the media tries to shove the next OSU qb down viewers throats as if they are the next coming of Arod. As if the history at Florida wasn't enough

Are we talking about college football? Because in that case, Urb's QBs have been really good and back it up.

Please hold on Bucky , no more Horni.
Mertz would be our best prospect since Bart

When asked by SB Nation’s Bud Elliott on Friday about his recruiting process, however, Mertz reaffirmed he is committed to Wisconsin.

“I love the fit,” Mertz said, “I love everything going on with it, and I don’t see anything changing.”

There is a solid relationship built between Mertz and Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst and quarterbacks coach Jon Budmayr, one that Mertz described as “great.”

“Chryst and Budmayr, they’ve been there from the start,” Mertz said. “It’s only getting stronger. Every time we get on the phone, every time they come see me, I love it.”

There are some unsubstantiated rumors that Loudermilk is out until early in the season with an injury and Rand will miss it with an Achilles injury. There is zero confirmation but this is a message board, so message boarding it.

Potrykus confirmed them after talking to Chryst. Spectacular. Nothing like losing a starting DE for the season and the other starting DE for part or all of the season in June.

I don’t follow recruiting nearly as much as I used to, but I did see on Facebook that Mertz is up to #81 at Rivals. Not sure if they’re the top dog anymore (not that it matters), but good to see.

He’ll likely stay around there unless he flips to OSU, in which case he’ll be a top-10 prospect :p

Mertz just shut down his recruiting and confirmed he is Wisconsin bound.
