Who said anything about gifting? What do you think godfather offer means?

Rodgers is a transcendental talent, but he's closer to the end of the prime of his career than the middle. He's 34 with an injury history that is far from clean. He absolutely could maintain his current level of performance for another five-six years, but the injuries are starting to become a greater concern.

I merely offered a better alternative to a hypothetical situation as a way to reset the franchise for further success than was proposed in the original post. No need to freak out--I mean Philadelphia just won the Super Bowl with a backup quarterback that nobody wanted before the year after all.

Wentz could very well be a system QB. We have no idea. Look how well Pederson made Foles look in the playoffs. For as good as Wentz was this year, he's still very young and has had a very small sample size in his career. Do I think he's actually good and would succeed just about anywhere? Sure. But to give up Aaron Rodgers for him plus two first round picks? I'm good.

Reading comprehension. Rodgers for him plus two firsts.

The him plus two first is Wentz and the Eagles 2 picks.

Yeah I see what he meant now. I originally read it as giving up Rodgers for him plus two first round picks like the Packers were throwing in the two first round picks. The plus instead of and made it seem like it was Rodgers PLUS two first round picks for him.

Why would Philly want to pay their back up so much?

This a quick no by the packers. If Rodgers went to Philly they'd win the super bowl the next three years. Wentz is a good qb but seeing foles play down the stretch brings wentz down a notch. People forget how good Rodgers is. He has carried this franchise since the sb. Wentz wouldn't be able to put up thirty plus points a game with the packers like Rodgers does. .

Right now the Eagles are over the cap. If they took on Rodgers contract, they would be more than 30 mil over the cap. They would then have to release players and would not be able to sign any of their free agents. They would immediately become the Packers with Rodgers and not much else.

I think this is a no for both teams. They can carry Wentz on his rookie deal and try to make another run with most of their players still intact.

I might consider it just for the simple fact that going 10-6 and winning a playoff game every 2 years would be less stressful with Wentz as our QB than it is with Aaron Rodgers.....lol.

Then again, LMFAO@ a Mike McCarthy coached team sniffing 10-6 without a hall of fame QB.

As an Eagles fan, this isn't something we would want either. We're set up to contend for more SBs for a while right now. Wentz is really good...might be hard to say just how good, but Foles essentially played the two best games of his life against the Vikings and the Patriots...and that was what Wentz had essentially been doing all year and then some, because he adds great mobility as well, which Foles just doesn't have. I don't think Foles did anything that Wentz wouldn't have done better.

Rodgers is amazing, but as noted before...we would go well over the cap and have to shed talent in other areas, and we'd be giving two first rounders on top of that? We'd very likely be a worse team overall, with a shorter term window for championships, without 1st rounders to add cheap replacements in lieu of the increased cap hit, and Rodgers is injury-prone.

Easy no.

What's so crazy about wanting a dynamic QB who just had an MVP-calibre season at age 24, and would have won the first of many superbowls?

Those of you claiming that he's a system QB haven't watched him play. Wentz is the future of the league.

We have Giannis Antetokounmpo and you don't. :naaa:

I'm not emotionally equipped to watch Aaron Rodgers torch us in an NFC championship. I'm not trading the best QB of all time.

the only negative would be the fans' outcry. At this point in his career, you can't expect Rodgers to have more than a 50% chance to go through the season unscathed and every time he gets injured might be the one that drastically decreases his ability.

In other words, just because Tom Brady has played well at age 40 doesn't mean Rodgers will. He probably won't. He could drop off a cliff at age 35.
