We flat out don't draft them. We haven't even really tried to draft one on Day 1 or 2 since Nick Perry. It's a bold strategy.

Feels much more like us splashing RB last year given that we have roster spots with Jordy and Janis gone.

Between the two of you, you guys just said exactly what I said. It feels like a combination of both.

Well, we have two first rounders next year in what is supposed to be a pass rush heavy draft. Could easily see us doubling up like we did with corners this year.

This was also a down year for pass rush. The only good fit would have been Landry and the Titans moved up to pick him before us in the 2nd round. Everyone after that was a question mark as far as first year impact.

Wow, we still have 3 more picks to make. I guess it's basically like getting a head start on your UDFA's.

Right, and one of our problems was points left on the field due to garbage long snapping and holding.

Right? We went through 3 LS last year and its the end of day 3. The punter was projected to go right around there and has excellent film. There were 6 botched holds and multiple bad snaps all year long. If this fixes the issue Im glad we invested 2 of our 8 day 3 picks to fix it.

Should have picked them earlier imo.

Certainly didn't expect to be DRAFTING a punter and long snapper.... I get it is important to them that we're reliable in those ST connection situations, but I'd rather roll the dice on athletes at positions of need. Trust your scouts to uncover ST gems in UDFA.

I get that punter and long snapper aren't sexy picks. However, we were in a position to pick them for value. Smith was the #1 rated punter, and the 2nd taken. We clearly knew the Raiders wanted him with the next pick. Long Snapper has been a huge issue for us ever since Rob Davis retired. We were able to take guys at the top of our board for each position. Improvement on Special Teams is still important. We are talking about the positions like you could find a guy at a bar to play them. When we have a bad snap, bad hold, shanked punt, or even worse, when we have a team put up a 70 yard punt against us -- remember how you talked about these positions today. They aren't perfect picks, or even guarantees, but they are still positions, and they are still positions that we could stand to improve at.

Should pick another LS just to make sure.

Wait, when we have a bad snap with the snapper we just drafted, that will invalidate me making fun of them for drafting him? Seems airtight, thanks for clarifying.
