Washington Lead Up

Somewhat surprised Packers open as 3 point favorites on the road. Skins beat a bad Arizona team and lost to a bad Colts team. I expect AP to have a big game. I also expect a 14 point Packer win.

Not too surprised they'd be favorites, I'd fully expect to win this game.

I said before week 1 that I would take 0-2 if it meant that Rodgers would actually be able to suit up going into week 3. I guess I'll take 1-0-1 and Rodgers being banged up but still able to play as somewhat of a win. People act like I was crazy for saying it before the Bears game, but any team that has to face the Bears and Vikings in a span of 7 days better be highly concerned about their QB's health. Your QB is going get hit, a lot.
We got a win and a half and Rodgers is still out there, I'll take it, on to Washington.

Chris Thompson worries me a bit. I hope Oren can get back.

Yeah looking forward to Jones being back but I agree, Williams and Montgomery weren't too bad against good defenses.

I got a tough decision to make. I have Aaron Jones, Carlos Hyde, and Dion Lewis to decide. I think I'm going Aaron Jones but have to look at the D's.
Also looking at trading 1 of those RBs and Jarvis Landry for Mike Evans.

It happened in Vikes game so I should probably post this there but the point applies here-forward - absolute stupidity for Pack to use time outs to give Aaron a chance at his cadence ****. Teams are catching onto Aaron and no Viking was induced to an off-sides yet Packers no longer have any time-outs at the very time sensitive end of game to either manipulate the final 2 minutes or throw a challenge flag for that questionable call earlier in the 4th.

It happened once, but I agree. Timeouts are more valuable than using one on a 3rd and long and coming out of it with a 3 yard pass play because you occasionally get a free play
And, even after all the nonsense that occurred and the BS penalties, we still would've had a great chance to set up Crosby for a ~40 yard game-winning FG if we only saved one of our timeouts.

Schedule eases up the next 3 weeks (@wash, vs buff, @det). need to win these three before SF,LAR,NE. Need to stop the run this week. A Smith can't push the ball down the field, need to stack the box and stop them. THen score some TDs and not settle for FGs. would be great to get a huge lead and rest Godgers.

Still can't get over the dumbness of yesterdays game.
Need to put it behind them and go on a little win streak before the schedule gets brutal.

Washington had their first non sellout in 50 years yesterday. Tons of empty seats. I imagine this game will sell out and lots of Pack fans. Absolutely need to win the next 3. Minny has Buffalo at home this week followed by at Eagles at Rams. We have the same schedule as Minny of course except they have Eagles and Saints and we have Washington and Atlanta.

Any updates on the Kevin King injury?

In the silver lining category it didn't appear that Rodgers further aggravated his injury at all. I'm guessing we have 2-5 more weeks of gimpy Rodgers but he is good enough at that level to win us any game.
Hopefully King can be back because House was a liability. OLB has to be an absolute top priority in the draft next year, we can't get any pressure whatsoever with what we have currently.

If King can't go next week then Jackson and Alexander need to be the ones taking his reps outside not House. They made that switch late in the game yesterday but not making it earlier cost them on the Diggs TD.

The plus is that the schedule is more favorable before the bye -- Washington, Buffalo and Detroit should be three wins, and San Francisco on MNF should be a win too. If they can avoid any serious injuries before the bye & take care of business, that would set us up very nicely for the tough stretch immediately following the bye.
Just win on Sunday -- it's a road game, and no matter who the opponent is, road games are always tough. Looking forward to getting Jones back in the backfield too. Hopefully the threat of a running game can take off a lot of pressure on #12.

Other than Rodgers and King - any additional injuries being reported?

My mission to slowly stop being so invested in the Packers/NFL is progressing nicely. I was only briefly pissed about the game yesterday and by the evening I was over it. Totally fine today, I used to be pissed off all day Monday if they lost a Sunday game at all, and the manner in which we tied yesterday would've sent me over the edge in the past.

I'm with you. I only got kind of mad in real time on the Matthews call; just kind of laughed to myself about how dumb the NFL has become.
That Seattle NFC camp game kind of broke me. I don't think I'll ever be that emotionally invested in a game again.
I know the whole 'they will be playing in flags soon' line is the snarky football is dying take.... but are we hitting a point where that might not be a bad idea for the QB position? Makes it very clear what the defender needs to do and QB's are protected like the league wants.

Agreed. I used to get super pissed with fantasy football as well. Now I just try to enjoy my kids more and realize that the Packers losing and sucking isn't going to ruin my life. I predicted 9-7 before the season started and I am sticking with it (although I realize we now have a tie). Our front 7 is pretty awful, but I like the rest of our team. In the end I am sure our defense will be our demise and we will either miss the playoffs or be a one and done again. Missing out on Khalil Mack was a huge bummer for me. Wish we would have offered more because that is the exact piece we needed to get to that next level.
