Hornibrook simply isn't a scholarship player on a P5 team. That's not saying Coan is either.
My biggest concern about Chryst was how terrible he was recruiting QBs over the years. That trend continues. Again, you'd think by dumb luck someone would have developed to be similarly as good as Tolzien who was recruited in what? 2005? Weak, but accurate arm. Good decision making. Not fast or quick, but functional as an athlete. Horni is none of those things.

I think we have seen the last of Horni.
Good kid. Not a good enough player. Thanks for the Orange Bowl. Hope he gets a degree.

Chryst doesnt have the balls or trust in Coan to do a play action pass.
We are playing Rutgers. Had several chances to get Coan confidence in throwing. Trying plays against crap teams is a must. Because when you play the good teams the QB is not ready or confident.
Sad really.

Rutgers calling timeout there is why everyone hates Rutgers.

Re: GT: Rutgers @ Wisconsin - 11:00 AM on BTN
I think this would have been a good defense if almost everything went right. There are no shortage of plus players at their position between Connelly, Edwards, Dixon, Loudermilk, Sagopolu, and Van Ginkel. The problem is there were too many man games lost to them and it couldn't be withstood with the lack of experienced and quality depth. It was never going to be at the standard of recent years given the hole at cb and the difference making spot at the 3/4 was underwhelming overall between the 2-3 guys utilized there.
Next year unfortunately is probably another gap year for the defense because 5 of the aforementioned plus defensive players they lose to graduation. So while some of the young players look promising enough like Loudermilk, Nelson, Hicks, Wildgoose, Baun, B. Williams, Pearson, etc.; it's a lot to replace. I think the offense is going to have to be the strength of the team next year for the them to have a legit shot at winning the B1G. I'm a little bit more optimistic of that with 3/5 of the OL returning, all the receiving core, rb's, and Coan/Mertz as the QB probably. But hard to bank on because Coan in spite of decent tools and decision-making hasn't looked like a world beater so far and Mertz is unproven and probably won't be ready. So more likely it would be closer to this season in terms of level of play. But the schedule is more favorable, so have that going for them.

Minny’s D is atrocious.
If we lose the ax, I hope Barry goes to his supposed list of replacements he has at the ready and makes some calls.

I know it's a win , but it is Rutgers, should blow these guys out of the stadium. Can't believe how atrocious our qb play is . Hopefully Mertz Will be able to play right away. Not alot of innovation in our offense. Maybe he has no confidence in these guys, and if that's the case it's all on Chryst !
