I hate how easy the schedule is the way out. Ed Oliver would have looked nice and I'm seeing him mocked in the back half of the top ten now.

They won't lose this week, but I could easily see us losing at home against Atlanta the following week. Especially if the defense remains as banged up as they currently are.

Yeah, I’m predicting we finish 7-8-1 with losses to the Falcons and Bears.

Gerhard de Beer signed to the practice squad. Season's not lost yet. Perfect fit for Green Bay.

Murphy ftl.

The best reason to allow Gutekunst to make the decision on his own is that Murphy let McCarthy dictate who his boss would be when Thompson was removed from his position. Murphy wanted to hire a true general manager, but McCarthy, according to a source, told his coaches that he would quit if Murphy hired Ball in that capacity, so Murphy changed his mind and created the new structure.

Murphy could have called McCarthy’s bluff and reminded him he had a contract and wasn’t going anywhere, so he’d have to accept that the new general manager had complete hiring and firing authority. Instead, he created an ill-conceived structure in which everyone reported to him instead of the general manager.

That move showed he may not have the guts to fire McCarthy, if that’s what is necessary.

That's messed up. Murphy let MM dictate? This was Murphy's first real decision on the football side. Thompson was here when Murphy was hired. He's focused almost entirely one the business side. What a mess.

Like I said the other day, Mike McCarthy is the exact same guy he has always been. It's just easier to see now that Aaron Rodgers is no longer Aaron Godgers, or at least not playing like Aaron Rodgers.

The margin for error is smaller and the frequency for there to be error is greater. With Rodgers back in human form, McCarthy has to do more actual coaching now than he's ever done in his life and holy **** does it show.

I can't help but smirk while also feeling annoyed that people (especially the media, local and national) are now pointing to things as to why Mike McCarthy should be fired and they're the same things I was pointing out in like 2009.

This my friends is why the Packers as an organization, are the Cleveland Browns with a HOF quarterback.

I will never understand why the Packers as organization, have been so petrified to hurt McCarthy's feelings and act like they owe the guy the world. If winning Super Bowls was the #1 priority and took priority over hurting people's feelings , McCarthy would have been gone a long long time ago.

You might as well keep McCarthy now, between playing in the same division as the Bears and 85% of our roster being trash, hiring a new coach at this point isn't going to matter all that much.

Probably should have gotten rid of McCarthy when Rodgers was in full Godgers mode and 8-8 was winning the NFC north.

Yup. Its hard to take any pleasure at all in this situation, but I do hope the Packers fans that mocked me for wanting McCarthy gone years ago, and have only recently have joined the FIRE FATMAC train, feel at least a tiny bit foolish and embarrassed.

Kinda have a theory about Rodgers never throwing the check down. We know that deep down he cares about his stats, and thus I feel that he fears his passes being tipped at the line of scrimmage for some goofy INT’s. Am I reading too much into this?

Yes you are. If he cared about his stats he would throw the check downs to get his completion percentage up from a career low rate. He does care about avoiding interceptions, thus the throwaways. If this were Favre he’d be leading the league in INT’s in this type of year.
