You can read the whole piece here. It's a really good read: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001033990/article/aaron-rodgers-matt-lafleur-navigating-new-packers-partnership

Sounds like LaFleur is running a Shanahan system that doesn't normally let QBs audible at the line because there's so much presnap activity that there isn't really much time to, but Aaron thinks he should have more freedom. LaFleur wants find a way to reconcile that.

I will say, I get where Aaron is coming from. LaFleur can't treat this like he's got some sort of rookie QB under his wing. But Aaron also needs to give LaFleur a chance to actually run the offense as he sees fit.
The thing is comming off the last couple years where we've seen so many reports that Rodgers was changing so many plays in the huddle it doesnt exactly scream "I turned over a new leaf" when this report shows up before training camp even starts

The push-and-pull has already begun. On a red-zone play toward the end of last Tuesday's minicamp practice, for example, Rodgers dropped back, saw that his targets were covered and bought time by sliding to his left. He then uncorked one of those glorious balls that few other humans can, arcing a glorious pass to the left corner of the end zone that tight end Jimmy Graham leaped up and caught for a touchdown.

And no, that was not how LaFleur had drawn it up, but he still applauded from his perch atop a golf cart.

Rodgers's ability to extend the play and improvise (where necessary) is important, but the pre-snap audibles are where they seem to have a difference of opinion. I do think Aaron is going to have to get used to the idea of running the play as its written wherever possible instead of improvising for 10 seconds during every pass play/

Anyway, I'm not panicking or anything. There's always a bit of an adjustment when a new coach comes in. Favre had to adjust to McCarthy and we were a point away from the SB in 2007. It can happen if both parties are invested in making it work.

Brett Favre wants the Packers to "Let Aaron Rodgers Play His Game."

Brett Favre came to Rodgers' defense this weekend, telling reporters that he's confident Rodgers will thrive regardless of the constraints of LaFleur's or any coach's system.

"Aaron will be fine," Favre said. "I think that the thing is he needs to remain the same. And I don't have to give him any advice. You know, he'll handle it well.

"The question is, how will they handle it with him. And obviously, that's very important. I mean, there's more to the team than Aaron but we all have to admit that when he's playing and playing well, which generally when he's playing he is playing well, you don't want to change what's working. There's other factors that you have to work on."

Favre continued: "I think you let him play his game and not disturb that very much," Favre said. "And it's going to be interesting to see if that happens."

I think Brett forgets that he was at his absolute best when he worked in concert with Holmgren instead of improvising new ways to throw picks.

Agreed. Rodgers is obviously a generational talent, but considering this organization hasn't won sh** in almost a decade, let alone can't even make the playoffs, maybe it's time to be open to trying something new.

We have our own version in Jones and didn’t use him. Thinking that will change

That's kind of how i felt last year. Jones looked like the type of back that would have been used much better in a variety of other offenses around the league, and yet in GB he couldn't even get the lion's share of the carries for whatever reason. Can't wait to see how he's utilized this year.

If you guys like getting into numbers and analysis Warren Sharp's 2019 Football Preview is available. I have read his previews in the past and they're very interesting. I don't have this years yet (coming Tuesday).
