This is why I wanted us to get cracking on interviews before the season ended. Competing with a lot of teams for talent now.

Re: ATL Wild Card
We couldn't interview any current NFL assistants until the season ended yesterday. And then only if they were out of the playoffs or on a bye.

Still got 2 in, and satisfied the Rooney Rule.

THEY CAN'T!!!
They only have $7 million in cap space before signing their rookies.
Just quoting these here because the other thread is locked.
If you are someone that thinks that Cousins is trash/can't win big games/etc...these trades actually make sense and are why the contract is not as bad as the "zomg $84 million guaranteed!??!" people believe.
I bet there are 3-5 teams that would trade a draft pick for Cousins and take on his last 2 years. If it's the Jags, they'd maybe have to do something around Bortles/Norwell to make the money work.
Of course, the Vikings won't do that. They'll take one more shot and get the band back together and try to win with Cousins and a decent supporting cast this year. If it fails, they can easily just give him away and rebuild after 2019 or at worst have a $28 million backup QB for 1 year as they groom the next guy.
I have said before that I'd have gone with Teddy if I was the Vikings but don't blame them for this Cousins deal. They had a 2-3 year window in which they'd be paying a QB $20-28 million no matter what (or taking a huge risk for less $ with Teddy). If they could theoretically cut Cousins today for $0...what are they doing next year? They still have a win now roster and they'd be looking at paying Flacco or Bortles huge money in the free agent market. Or they could sign this Kirk Cousins guy.

I don't blame the Vikings for signing Cousins, although I would have brought back Keenum, and if the price was right, Bridgewater.
My point was that if they had actually took the next step and made the the SB this year, nobody would really question the bad financial situation they are in. But for an 8-7-1 team, they are in bad shape.
They have very little cap space, and will probably lose Barr and Richardson to FA. Murray will probably leave too, and their kicker, punter, and backup QB are no longer under contract.
These would be acceptable cap casualties and minor holes if they had just made The Owl and needed to retool for another run, but this team didnt even make the playoffs.
