Pretty surprising, but not the end of the world. He hasn't been all that great and he's only getting older and slower.

Hoping Lancaster can continue to get better. He showed a lot of promise. Lowry and Clark will be good. Need Montravious to step his game up this year. It's a make it or break it year for him. Fadol Brown looked decent as well.

Listening to Mike Clemons on WSSP and he thinks it's an injury issue. Foot still a major problem and can't even get in 11 on 11 in shorts. Packers were shopping him and teams weren't even willing to take him because they don't know when he'll be ready.

I guess it opens the path for Gary to start.

I think Pettine will deploy a bunch of two-down lineman. He's going to have guys being disruptive all over the field. I'm not too worried about not having 3 legit starters on the line in a base defensive if we aren't in that formation the majority of the game.

Re: Packers Release Mike Daniels
Look at his last two tweets. Talking about how he can’t wait for camp and putting together his first annual backpack and haircut giveaway Wisconsin. Leader in the community, never missed camp, always gives his all, highly productive player, and this is how you treat him?
Also, I can’t believe that nobody would trade for him. So now he goes to Minnesota, Chicago, or some contender and makes us look stupid. Let him play out his deal, he signs else where, you get a comp pick at the very least.

Would've been nice to do this earlier and spend some of the savings on a seasoned WR or other help.

Solid points but you're ignoring the fact he has 10.7M cap hit, might not be healthy, and is going to lose a lot of playing time to guys he's probably not better than but thinks he is. He's also a very outspoken guy, if he feels like he's not going to get the playing time he deserves in a contract year it is better for both parties that he gets a shot somewhere else. He's had injury problems two years in a row and had 18 tackles and 2 sacks last year, I'm not overly concerned here. It is surprising but I understand it. Read Tom Silverstein's article predicting they'd get rid of him back in April.

I'd assume that they can take this $8m savings and put it into frontloading an extension in 2019, no? Clark?

Good guy, formerly great player. I understand the move but it does kind of suck. It does free up cash for a Clark extension.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I just hope he's actually 100%. There seemed to be some disagreement about whether he could play a full season or may need surgery.

Re: Packers Release Mike Daniels
This is probably for very different reasons but I recall the same reaction to cutting Sitton. Sitton had some OK seasons afterwards but I don't think it made a huge difference one way or another. Training staffs/front offices are wrong sometimes but they are taking a calculated risk here.
