Re: College Football Discussion
I doubt Leonard would take another DC spot for more money. But at some point he'll be offered a HC gig and he'll take it. Maybe Barry will step down in the next year or two (he's 73), Chryst will take over as AD and Leonard will become HC. I don't see Chryst stepping away from coaching though.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: College Football Discussion
He stayed just long enough (plus about 3 weeks) to get his $4.3 million bonus for the year.

Yep, waiting for the second shoe to drop on the Dantonio "resignation."

Timing is interesting one day before national signing day.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

Re: College Football Discussion
With the early signing period, like 90% of the guys were already signed (not that it makes it much better for them, they were locked in instead of about to be locked in).
I'd guess that Dantonio stayed until right before signing day to help the next guy. I doubt the 3 remaining recruits or whatever change course at the last minute now. Now the next guy can have the benefit of a full signing class when he takes the job.
If he left in mid-January, some of those early guys may have had time to ask out of their LOIs and the late-signers may have decommitted completely.

I'll agree that this is to the highest degree, but a lot of times when teams change coordinators and it is at all possible, the coach will wait until around signing day as a favor to his old team. It's not necessarily just Michigan State doing this.
Justin Wilcox left in mid-January, shortly before signing day, leading to Jim Leonhard signing in February. Obviously these guys will jump to the next job when they can get it but just due to the actual date of signing day and coaches maybe hoping to retain some players...this happens a lot.

Mel Tucker to the Spartans. Former Badger. Washout DC for the Bears. Had one 5-7 season in Colorado.
Lots to be excited about for Spartans fans.

Saleh turned down an interview. Fickell interviewed, then withdrew. Talk of Bielama but just rumors. Not a plumb job. Colorado wants Bieniemy but I doubt he takes it, he wants an NFL HC gig (and should have had one by now).

Bieniemy is a Colorado alum, so that could sway him. But tbh, if I was Colorado, I'd shy away from a guy like Bieniemy who could bounce on them as soon as an NFL offer comes through.

Re: College Football Discussion
I think Bielema is actually a good college coach so I'm glad another B10 team didn't get him.
Tucker's strength in limited time was apparently recruiting, of which he was definitely improving at Colorado.
Could work but you're pretty boned in that division if PSU, OSU, and Michigan are all close to their best and probably half of the reason (climate/issues with MSU being the other) that most people didn't want the job.

Proposed rule to limit replay to 2 minutes. Good.

Yeah that's good but I haven't really noticed super long replays in college.

Replayed feel like an absolute eternity when at the game, but I suppose that's the case in any sport for any review.
