Redskins Lead Up

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Dec 2, 2019 2:42 am

Washington has won 2 in a row. Guice had a nice game vs. Carolina. Obviously we need to take care of business at home.

Pack favored by 13.5
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

As far as contenders go we feel like frauds. But we were never supposed to contend in the first place so not really sure how I feel.

I kinda feel the same but then again who is not a fraud. Baltimore and maybe San Fran. That’s it really. We’re no more fraudulent than NE, HOU, SEA, NO, MIN, DAL. All 6 NFC playoff teams have shown short stretches this year where they’ve all been dominant on both sides of the ball at some point. Any one of the 6 could put it together again and make a run.

Team is hardly a fraud if/when they go 12-4 with the schedule they've been dealt. Would like to see the team overall start trending upwards as we hit the home stretch though. Yesterday was a good start but the secondary is still a mess and the defense still has trouble getting off the field against mediocre signal-callers. This should be another win.

Smith was actually really close to breaking a kick return yesterday, but yeah. Especially on PR's, the return game leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah they might have the worst punt return season ever. Not hyperbole, it's got a shot to set some records.

Sounds like he screwed up on a crucial 4th and short:

It appeared Ingold would get the call. But instead, Carr signaled wide receiver Trevor Davis in motion and handed him the ball on a jet sweep. With plenty of green grass available upfield, Davis continued on his wide path and ran into the back of blocking teammate, TE Foster Moreau, for no gain and a turnover on downs.

After two consecutive blowouts, this was probably also about sending a message to the rest of the team.

Honestly the Packers should bring him back

The Packers should claim Trevor Davis. He would immediately put my mind at ease with our returners.

I'd rather have a sure-handed guy back there to fair catch punts every single time than risk Davis muffing a return in a crucial playoff game. There's a reason we were ok getting rid of him in the first place.

Ervin was in a preseason battle for the Ravens' returner job and had success a couple years ago, some big returns in playoff games. Maybe he can be a gunner too?

As incredible as negative total return yards for the regular season is, no one's sweating it if the Pack has a return for a TD and otherwise solid return games in the playoffs. Am trying to be glass half-full. :)

Well we just cut Tremon Smith again so perhaps it is destiny. But my issue with Davis has nothing to do with his return ability and everything to do with his tendency to fumble the ball.

So we are talking bout a guy who has fumbled 4 (3 lost) times in his career, and 2 of those times are since he left the Packers?

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DaviTr03/gamelog/

However, for most of his career he averaged more yards per punt return than we have in our entire season? I don't see it. It feels like there is something out there making people feel a way about Trevor Davis that isn't backed up by stats.

I'm fine with bringing Davis back as a returner.

But man Davis is such a tease as a player, because of his speed and quickness the idea of Trevor Davis offensive contributor will always be better than Trevor Davis as an actual player on O.

He would be replacing Tremon Smith, who didn't help us anywhere.

Yeah that's why I'm totally fine bringing him back.

My other comment is just a general thought on a dude who raiders fans were all high on as an offensive weapon after that first week and us pack fans had thoughts that he could be a nice gadget player for a few years. I just think he's a tease of a talent. But as a return guy only he's fine and id welcome him back.
