I can't say I watched much of Brissett last year, but his numbers don't look terrible. Rivers probably gives you more short term upside, but he wasn't a good QB last year.

Our buddy Datone getting some pub:

The best and worst recent NFL free-agent signings for all 32 teams: Picking deals since 2015

Worst free-agent signing: DT Datone Jones. Rightfully concerned about the health of former first-round pick Sharrif Floyd, the Vikings signed Jones to a one-year, $3.75 million deal in March 2017. A former first-rounder himself, Jones was released by Green Bay at the end of the 2016 season after failing to live up to his draft expectations. Minnesota expected Jones would become a rotational pass-rusher, but it wasn't the right fit. Jones was cut a few days before the regular season. -- Courtney Cronin

Vikings cut Rhodes and Joseph. Gives them cap room, but also gives them more holes to fill.

Just doing "due diligence" by kicking the tires on Brady, before wrapping up Tannehill?

Sounds like a deal is close with Tannehill.

Not sure what the difference is between full and total guaranteed is.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I'd assume it's the difference between guaranteed even if he were cut and things like roster/workout bonuses (which are considered guarentees)

DT

They wouldn't need to kick the tires, he can still play. It was a combination of him not playing up to his contract, the Vikings in cap hell, and him being on the wrong side of 30 that led to him getting cut.

No long term deal though. He probably started his decline a bit last year.

So I was the initial "Cousins contract understander" but he just got a 2 year extension so that they can try to still compete in this window.

NOW I'm with you guys. They should've just let this run its course and tried one more season to win with him and had someone ready and groomed behind him. I understand that they had almost zero room to work with their cap situation this year but just run the course and start over.

Wow....here I was thinking he might be had at a discount. Browns made him the highest paid tight end? That's going to be an awful deal.

I didn't want Hooper at big money. Top paid TE is crazy for him.
