New CBA being negotiated. Owners pushing hard for 17 games. I say just add another bye week. Extra week for TV. They did 2 bye weeks at one time.

16 regular season games is enough. Add the second bye week - that should help keep players healthier in the long run.

Hopefully, Rivers (or Brady or Cam or any credible QBs) don't end up in the NFCN.

If the Bears hadnt come out publicly in favor of Trubisky I'd be worried about Cam going to Chicago.
As it stands I'm pretty confident "If" Brady leaves NE he either goes to the Chargers or Titans with the team that doesnt get him bringing in Cam.

The days of the ironman running back (Payton, E Smith, etc) seem to be in the past - for now. Is that a by-product of the great increase in the size and speed of front seven defensive players adding to wear-and-tear on RB's?

Barnwell's "5 Moves for Every Team" covered the NFC North today:
Minnesota Vikings
Projected 2020 cap space: -$12.3 million
1. Create some cap space. Just in case you missed that minus symbol above, the Vikings are in a tight cap squeeze. While they aren't going to end up in the sort of apocalyptic cut spree that teams like the Ravens and Titans dealt with 15 years ago, general manager Rick Spielman & Co. have some work to do over the next few weeks.

No matter how adroitly Spielman manages this, some of the Viking fan reaction will be pitchforks and torches worthy. Of their local reporters: Patrick Reusse and Dan Barreiro can be particularly caustic.

Josh Norman got released today.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/28700644/josh-norman-ready-new-fresh-redskins-releaseHe's pretty much burnt, IMO. But I think some team will give him a flyer to come in at a discounted rate.

I can't believe Jordan Reed wants to keep playing. He's had seven concussions, and missed all of last season due to just one of them. He needs to retire yesterday.

I need to think about this more, but not sure I have any issue with the playoff changes on first take.
Expanding to 17 games, on the other hand, is a **** terrible idea. Shortening the preseason means next-to-nothing - no one plays hard in the preseason except for the potential roster cuts. That's not nothing, but the overall effect of these changes is potentially two more games per season for great-but-not-1-seed playoff teams. That's a big difference.

After seeing what happened to the Seattle backfield at the end of last year, I don't like adding games at all. It'll just become a war of attrition.

Pittsburgh and LA Rams would have made it this past season under the new rules. Expand the playoffs is ok I guess. 17 games is stupid.

Dunno. I think the POs are pretty close to perfect as is imo.
17 games just seems like a bad idea all around. Unless an extra bye week gets added I dont see how the union allows it
