The problem with the regular-season 49ers loss and the Buccaneers loss is that they exposed some weaknesses with LaFleur’s team, and maybe his scheme. The speedy hard-hitting defenses of the 49ers and Buccaneers destroyed his offense.

And here’s the kicker: Both of those teams were built the same way.

The 49ers had an outstanding front four with two speedy, hard-hitting inside linebackers destroying everything LaFleur wanted to do and the Buccaneers have a brick wall up front and two of the most athletic inside linebackers in the NFL.

The Packers, on the other hand, have two undrafted free agents starting in the middle, one of whom (Krys Barnes) has decent speed but at 229 pounds won’t be knocking down pins the way the 49ers’ Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw and the Buccaneers’ Lavonte David and Devin White do.

On Sunday, you could see how that position continues to separate the best teams from the Packers.

David and White were like Cooper’s hawks the way they swooped through a forest of defensive linemen and lifted quarterback Aaron Rodgers off the ground. The Packers’ offensive line, heretofore very solid, looked like its learned technique was to block in the back because the Buccaneers were rushing past them so quickly their backs were all they could see.

“It was just those guys are so fast,” Rodgers said. “They’re so good sideline to sideline. We just had a hard time getting on them in some of our zone blocking schemes, just kind of out-running some of the angles, and it’s a credit to them – not necessarily us not doing our job.

Nothing seemed to be working,” LaFleur said. “Nothing worked outside those first two drives. It was definitely a frustrating deal when they continued to bring pressure, don’t have good answers for it, can’t beat it. So, we’ll take a good hard look at the film and try to learn as much as we can from it.”

What David and White did Sunday wasn’t that different from what Warner and Greenlaw did last year when they had a combined 19 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. (In the rematch, they only had 12 tackles and a pass break-up, but that game was over before it started.)

Across the line of scrimmage, the Packers seemed helpless.

1.) Dillon looks plenty fast to me
2.) Who cares about speed on 3rd and 1 or 1st and goal at the 3?

Yes and yes. I do think they missed Ervin but I 100% agree they should have put Jones in that role more.

My overall thoughts while it sucks to get housed and it's ok to have some concerns I do kind of chalk it up to you have a game or two a year where **** goes wrong and you get on tilt so I'm more meh than freaking out.
