Would you trade a 1st for a 2nd+6th? Because that's what we paid for Love.
It's also not an apples to apples comp because with Darnold you had to pick up his $20m 5th year option. That absolutely factored into his trade value.jakecronus8 wrote:MoMM wrote:jakecronus8 wrote:6th this year, and a 2&4 next year for Darnold. Certainly more than I would’ve given up.

I’m not sure what you’re getting at here but I’ll take a stab at it and just declare Love as the better prospect with a higher upside.

We traded a 1st+4th for Love, they traded 2nd+4th+6th for Darnold, you remove the 4th from the equation and that's 1st for 2nd+6th.
Yes, paying 20M for the 5th year is huge, I didn't had thought about it.
For sure. If he's even Kirk Cousins level good this season I'm sure they will give him a $100m extension.Treebeard wrote:MoMM wrote:jakecronus8 wrote:

Though, if Darnold works out well in Carolina, they'll be OK with the price tag. If not, well....

I think it's a bit misleading to say that we traded a 1st and 4th for Love. We traded a 4th to move up and draft Love. If we stood pat and were able to draft him where we were, would that have been described as trading a first for him?

Sorry, I wrote it wrong, but the idea is valid, we spent a 1st+4th for Love, they spent 2nd+4th+6th for Darnold, so the real question is, would you rather spend a 1st on Love or a 2nd+6th on Darnold?
