Poll : Bigger Long Term Risk: Rodgers or Love?

I know we have the Rodgers thread but I’m really split down the middle on this. If you trade Love and give Rodgers a 4 or 5 year deal, Rodgers may get hurt or take a sharp decline. It could take many years to draft a QB we feel has as much potential as Love. Some teams have gone 20+ years without finding a good QB.
If we trade Rodgers, we’ve got a cheap young QB but we don’t know exactly what his future holds but the chance at having a 3rd great QB in a row is very tempting.
What do y’all think? I think long term it’s probably more risky to keep Rodgers but I’m not sure. If he can play like this for 4 more years it will be worth it to have to suck for a while to find a QB.

I'm in the middle, I think a good 2 year run is perfect. Gives Love 3 years of seasoning, much less cap hit for Rodgers, Aaron Jones contract is basically a 2 year deal so we can get out from under him if needed. I think 4-5 years is pushing it with his age, Brady be damned. I really have no opinion on Love until I see him at least get some preseason snaps.

Great poll and I am with Rodgers, it's a sure thing vs a huge bet.

This is the way.

It's hard for me to offer an assessment of this having never seen Love play. If he had a Rodgers-in-Dallas moment like Rodgers did back in 2007, I'd be able to better assess whether I was comfortable moving on from Rodgers.
Short term, trading Rodgers is the riskier move.
Long term, trading Love is the riskier move. While they would have opportunities to find another heir apparent, that doesn't mean that they'll find someone better than Love. But you've got to trust the assessment of the FO on that. If they think Love is going to be a great QB, they can't trade him.
Ultimately, I am in favor of another year or two of Aaron before handing the reigns to Love - assuming he's actually got the goods (dude).

See I don't really view option A as a possibility because I tend to think once a relationship is burned to this point it never truly recovers.

To me there are two options: let Rodgers sit, or trade him now.

If there is any shot Rodgers comes back, you go that route. In next 3 years, best case scenario for Love is he is as good as Rodgers. Beyond that, who cares? 80% of the roster will be turned over at that point and who knows where we will be or what Love will be.
Who knows, maybe Love is a god in work-outs and that is why rodgers is throwing a fit?

Love is going to be a huge bust I think, so I’d go with Rodgers.

This poll reduces this situation to A or B. It's just as likely to work out to choice C - Rogers stays, with some sort of accomodation

Love not withstanding, I don’t want Rodgers any longer. At this point I can’t see bringing him back in the locker room and rewarding him with a new contract or substantial restructure is a bad bad look.
He’s long been the king of passive aggressive BS. It’s gone over the top now and I think he assumed (as any ego driven person would) that almost everyone would be on his side. Now through back channels he’s trying to walk it back, but his silence is deafening. All he has to do is make a statement or do an interview or fire off a tweet. It wont end the wild speculation but it could at least alleviate the drama inside 1265. Not going to happen.
Aaron is the Lebron of football. When things are going great he’s the GOAT and the face of the league. When things go wrong (every postseason seemingly) it’s any and everyone else’s fault and the water carrying/excuse making runs rampant.
I don’t know if Love will be a good or great player. He has amazing tools. I also never anticipated Aaron finishing his career in Green Bay. I am just so disappointed that he watched what happened with Brett and he’s doing his best to end his tenure even worse. I had hoped his exit would be a bit more graceful even for the sake of his own legacy.

the choices seem to have bought into Aaron's narrative. It's not an either-or choice this year.
I declare the poll null and void.

I don't think Rodgers trade value will ever be this high again. The fact that he was MVP you should be able to get a Hershell Walker haul.
If any of these proposed deals are anywhere close to what we can get you would be a fool not to take them.
If teams are just offering a pick or two then no...keep Rodgers and try at least one more year.

Yeah it really depends on how you define "long term"

You are not getting much for Love at this point. He is a sunk cost. You ride Rodgers as long as you can but there is no need to just dump Love.

The reason Rodgers is worth the Haul is because he single handedly changes a teams playoff chances and Super Bowl odds. He makes half the teams in the league into Super Bowl contenders. That is the ultimate goal. Some front offices understand that.

Interesting take by Cowherd, says we haven't traded Rodgers because we know Love can't play...

You lost me at Cowherd
I think the Packers know Love isn’t ready to play which is different than he can’t play

That is an interesting and poignant take.
I don’t really agree with it but it is a hell of a take.
The part where he says you know within 2 practices if a guy can play is probably true. Players and coaches know if he can play and teams need to be quick to move on. Very few regret moving to early especially at QB.
However even if Love can play he is not the player Aaron is next year. The Packers would be dumb to move on even if Love can play.

I didn't watch the video, I won't give cowherd the click. I do think you can tell pretty quickly with some positions especially ones like line where you either can or can't hang physically. With QB you need to see them with live bullets to know what you have. Guys can look great in a controlled practice situation but poop themselves in the caos of a game. And vice versa where some guys are gamers and look better there. About the only thing that could cause you to give up on a QB before seeing them play a single snap is if they physically can't make the throws, I doubt that's the case with Love.
Also if it was true wouldn't the packers have simply given up on Love wouldn't they then have bowed down to Rodgers and given him all his demands.
My guess is the Pack don't know what they have in Love and want to get a look in a normal camp/preseason before they make any judgments.
