GT: Eastern Michigan at Bucky - 6:00 - FS1

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Sat Sep 11, 2021 3:38 pm

This will be on a secondary TV as I watch the Brewers.

Go Bucky
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm hoping Mertz does better, not too concerned about the run game and the defense (holding a really good Penn State team to 0 points in the first half is highly commendable) though there is a drop off with RB since Taylor left and WR with Cephus; I would've thought they would've addressed especially the latter with the big plays he made in the past (especially that catch against Minnesota in the snow); from what I've heard on the radio there are some who are already writing off Mertz though he was one of the highly sought after QBs by a lot of ranked schools)

We might actually score two or three touchdowns today.

More vanilla, Chryst or his play calling?

Apparently Chryst would rather turn it over on downs than have the QB attempt to throw the ball.

Is the team that E.M beat last week (St. Francis, PA) a high school team?

The offense hasn't looked dangerous since Bielema left. Whether it be personnel, coaching, or whatever, but the Wisconsin identity is lost

I think to a degree, the game has also changed but Wisconsin has no choice.

We were never as good as 80s/90s Nebraska, but an attempt to play finesse ball would surely turn us into 2000/2010s Nebraska.

That said, if you put a very good QB and RB in the offense, it's fine. Unfortunately, we had hoped Mertz would be even better and it turns out we basically hope he turns into the next Coan.

Also, Bielema had some of these teams. If you don't have a great QB situation you either suck but win enough to make a bowl due to being a competent program (2008) or have a team probably roughly as good as this one (2009) with a decent QB (Donovan).
