Lions Leadup (MNF)

Post#1 » by humanrefutation » Mon Sep 13, 2021 1:25 am

Trying to cleanse my palate with the next leadup thread.

First home game, MNF, Lions coming in. They looked frisky against SF. Can't take a win for granted.

Lions were down 38-10 and then outscored the Niners 23-3. Sure some of it was Frisco cruising down the stretch but they didn't give up.

Packers open as 10.5 point favorites
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

We've barely beat the Lions the last few times we've played them. Not feeling confident.

Feel free to quote me after the game

Dillon seemed to do OK (for the few times he got to run). I wonder if the Packer Defense hadn't crumbled so fast if we'd have seen more of Dillon?

It's the bane of Rodgers existence because the defense gives up points so fast that the offense can't afford to run the ball.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32207953/handful-new-orleans-saints-offensive-coaches-test-positive-covid-19-sources-say

The New Orleans Saints have had eight members of the organization test positive for COVID-19, calling into question their status for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Not really buying that excuse that all. New Orleans put up a whopping 10 points through 23 game minutes, before the defense let up the TD at 1:07 to put them down 17-0. The offense was completely inept from the opening kickoff. Rodgers sucked.

In fairness the D also couldn't get off the field.

That was some true team suckage

New Orleans put up two whopping 15 play 80-yard drives in one half of football.

That's definitely good.

Back to back 15 play drives that ate up 18:00. You can't yell from the sidelines "no fair it's our turn." By rule, the defense actually has to force a punt, which they didn't do until 6:00 left in the 3rd quarter. It's not all that unusual to not score on your first 2 possessions. The Packers were down 17-0 by the time they touched the ball for the 3rd time. The game plan and any legit chance to win were out the window. Not gonna win many games with a putrid defense doing that all year long.

What were the Packers offensive tine of possession in the one before and after the first 15 play drive? I suspect they didn’t give the defense much more than a three and out to get their wind back. Lots of blame to go around, but in a NFL football game putting up 3 points is a majorly dicking your defense over. Not a one way street.

Are you kidding ?? 3 and outs happen. You're probably confused because you never see the Packer defense force one. You mention the 15 play drive as if its no big deal. If the defense would force a 3 and out once in a blue moon maybe they wouldn't need a 3 hour rest. Defending their performance in any way, shape, or form is ridiculous. They screwed themselves, the game plan, and the offense in 3 possessions.

Dillon did look good. It's too bad we couldn't/didn't stick with him.
Cover 2's weakness is pounding the run. With 2 deep safeties there's only 7 guys in the box. If we can't run against 7 guys it's going to be a long season.

Good breakdown here...

Saints are a good defensive team, well coached and kicked our ass. Gotta man up and turn it around.

I'm not sure wtf youre going on about. Everyone pretty much acknowledged the D sucked Sunday.

You're just pretty much neglecting that the offense sucked also when others are pointing it out.

It's not an either or kind of a situation. Both units sucked
