It is hard to understand, but I think I need to give Joe Barry and his staff credit. Either through coaching them up, how they use them, demands from the scheme, it seems our secondary guys are all playing at career best levels. And we probably have two more wins if the guys simply stop tripping on themselves on deep balls or simply catching gimme INTs.

It is bizarre watching that Saints game and seeing everything since.

Along with improved defensive performance in a general sense, the kickoff return and punt return teams have been less abyssmal than previous years - to this point. Yeah, that's a low bar to hurdle, but I feel like I've seen fewer outright gaffes in coverage.

Of course, the wheels have completely fallen off the Field Goal unit.

*edit* And the kick return teams are still disappointing.

This is a big difference. It seems like the secondary and LB's actually are in the right spots and communicate. The past few years, the packers would have multiple blow coverages and Corners/Safeties looking at eachother expecting help. This year it seems that the defense is in the right spot almost all the time. They're more disciplined and make almost every tackle. The talent has been there, but I think now with the scheme and communication between players, it seems to be falling into place.
