Lions Lead Up

Sounds like MLF is leaning towards playing the starters a half or so.

Could be Goff. Could be Boyle.

Pack favored by 2. Vegas thinks the starters won't play or won't play much.

I’m sitting Rodgers, Jones, Davante, Clark, and Gary. ETA: Campbell makes the list as well.

Give Jordan Love the gameplan from the second half of the KC game. Discard the gameplan from the first half.

Game still bothers me MLF threw love under the bus in that 1st half absolute garbage game plan for a QB making his 1st ever start

I get the rust argument (barely) but playing the starters for even a series would be such a stupid gamble.

Yeah, I would much rather gamble on key guys maybe being a little rusty in the first playoff game, than gamble on key guys possibly getting injured playing this week.

There's no right answer here. He'll probably split the difference and play the starters for a half. That's fine. More important is getting Jaire and Bahk some snaps hopefully. Get their feet wet and gauge whether they can contribute in the playoffs. Z too if he's ready.

Line has gone from Packers -2 to Packers -3.5

Yupp. 11-13 record vs 28-8 record in the divisional since 03 when starters play at least a half in their last game. 3 weeks is an abnormal amount of time off. There's no tackling in practice so that's almost a month without facing real game conditions

Play em a half.

I'm also concerned about this possible offensive line shuffle right before the playoffs, despite them being preferred starters. O-line hasn't seemed like a problem this year, IDK.

Rodgers said he'd gladly take 60% of Bahk. I wouldn't. Yosh has played very well.

Yeah and the complete lack of adjustments to poor OL play AND the blitzing on every single down was a major WTF in MLF coaching.

I like getting the starters some snaps, but it is also like, execute the plays but take no risk, don't be a hero out there. QB throw it away if you need to. RB run out of bounds instead of fight for all that extra yards, WR get down, OL hold the guy instead of letting a free shot kind of stuff.

It's a violent game, but just do your best to protect yourselves extra.

I know nothing about OL play but couldn’t Yosh slide to RT?

Based on watching both him and Kelly, I'd take Yosh at RT. Kelly as the backup RT. If Bakh can't cut it then move Yosh back to LT.

To me, the weakest link on the OL by far is Newman. He has looked awful to me, so any alignment we can put together that gets him out of there, the better off we are. If Bakhtiari is ready to go now, he still has two and half weeks to get into playable shape/comfort level.

That's even more impressive when you consider that the teams that don't play their starters are theoretically slightly better teams on average, in the sense that many of them clinched their seeding/bye a week earlier than the teams that still had something to play for in their last game.*

*Unless those W-L records are only apples-to-apples comparisons of teams that had nothing to play for, but there have been 4 divisional games per year for 18 or 19 years since '03 (don't know if it includes '03) so I think there are some games missing from that data, right?

Ideal situation is they go out there and end the game by halftime and you can pull most of the top guys. Its so much time off before they play again that you have to give them some game reps to keep them healthy. The Lions will play hard but that shouldnt matter when you are the best team in the league.

I would be SHOCKED if Yosh could just slide between LT and RT successfully in the short term. I think this dude has probably only practiced and played at LT (I am just guessing), with as raw as he was, no way I see him able to mirror his pass protection easily, but I also have no idea how much experience he may have at other positions.

I'd be real careful about doing anything with Yosh other than letting him continue to start or backing up that spot.

To clarify, it was actually back to 2005 and it's only teams that clinched a bye before their last game. So every team in that sample set had a bye locked up.
