The team had 3 glaring needs heading into the draft:

1. WR
2. MLB
3. Overall depth (see ST last year and all our FA's next year)

Solving the MLB spot w this pick after the run on WR's is outstanding. We are gonna love this guy - perfect compliment to Devondre.

You wanted the scalpel (Dean), but you still got the hammer. It's awesome

It's just a bummer because Dean is the better player. He doesn't have the Packer measurables and I never expected him to go here, but it's still a bummer because I think he's the kind of player who's going to be awesome despite being a little short and a little light on the length.

I love me some Dean, but Walker has some excellent size on him. That'll be fun to watch roam the middle.

If you go by mock drafts, a lot of mock drafts that were posted or updated this past week had Walker in the 20s, Dean not in the first round.

Seems like plenty of teams viewed Dean as the lesser Bulldog between the two.

Fans whose draft biases are based mostly on mock drafts from Feb-March will probably see a lot of "steals" in the second round. Guys that have already gone by #24 were not in those earlier mocks: Quay Walker, Zion Johnson, CB Elam, T Smith.

I wonder... They can do more rotational work, so the guys still have something in the tank all the way through the 4th Qtr.

Well the problem I have with Dean is that he seems like more of a defensive weapon in passing situations. But we're already prepared to handle that for the most part. So if we went ILB, I expected more of a run stuffer. Dean has me worried he won't be able to disengage from much bigger and stronger guards blocking him.

That's just me tho. I'm but a simple armchair gm

Gute loves athletic freaks that project over college production. Really the only issue I'm trying to square is picking an ILB after paying Campbell.

Yea, that's why I liked him. It's a passing league.

Knee jerk I didn't like it. After chewing on it for a half hour I like it more
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Campbell, Gary, and Amos were like 3 of the most consistent tacklers at their respective position I think. Adding Quay to that? Damn

I said this in the other thread, but Barnes and Burks combined for 700 snaps. If you give those to an upgrade at ILB it'll make a nice difference.

I like Quay! I didn't see that coming. I'm with Jollay, though - been ragging on us for what feels like an eternity to take an ILB, and now we have Campbell and also pick one with our top pick. Then book-ended by Gary and Smith. Could - hopefully will - be an embarrassment of riches.
