Now that we know where everything is headed, let's put the Rodgers stuff in this thread going forward. For all intents and purposes, he's on his way to the Jets. We'll update the thread title when the trade is done with compensation and such.
Schneidman with this little nugget in his article about Rodgers today in the Athletic:
According to a source familiar with negotiations — and contrary to an ESPN report Wednesday morning — the Packers aren’t seeking multiple first-round picks from New York in the deal.

Reminder that the Packers can only wait so long if Rodgers doesn't retire. His cap hit balloons to over $70 million if he's on the roster week one. That's where I'm not really buying this:
If Rodgers wants to play next season and the Packers want to play Love, they literally have to trade Rodgers somewhere. They won't keep that cap hit.

I doubt this'll get past the draft. Frankly, both teams are incentivized to get this done if only so that they can manage the rest of their offseasons and prepare for the new season without having this out there.
Plus, I have little doubt that Rodgers will start publicly bashing the Packers FO if they don't move him sooner rather than later.

Should add a poll for what we get.
I think we swap firsts, get a second this year and a conditional pick next year.
I think we have the leverage until the draft, then it gets muddy.

I'd be happy with pick 13 and then two 4th rounders conditional on him playing two years there.

I think it ends up the #13 and a conditional pick, and the hold up now is the conditions on that pick.

I'd be thrilled with pick #13 and us keeping our 1st. Take it and run. Anything else is gravy.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are saving that pick for another trade. If they're going all in might as well go all the way.
Hope I'm wrong. We need to get this done before the draft either way.

I'll say Pick 43 this year, a conditional pick next year that can fall between rounds 1-3 depending on how the Jets do this year, and Corey Davis

2023 #13, 2024 3rd that can become a 2nd, Corey Davis.
If I’m the Pack I’m holding out for #13. If they absolutely won’t budge on that prior to the draft then I’d demand both 2023 and 2024 2nds and Moore.

I'm fine with this.

I like it. Both scenarios. Being a pessimist I doubt they include #13 though. Would love Elijah.

They signed Hackett, they signed Lazard, they flew out to California to woo Rodgers, they let every other notable FA QB get signed, and I'm supposed to believe the Jets won't give anything more than a 3rd? Nah, **** that. Gimme #13 at least

Swap 2023 1sts
2024 1st
2024 conditional pick (2nd-4th)
Only way I think Jets give up a 1st is if it's in 2024, and sounds like the Packers really want a 1st to say they didn't give Rodgers away. Also think there has to be a conditional pick to cover the giant uncertainty of if Rodgers plays a 2nd year.

I don't need the swap or a conditional pick. Just give me that 2024 first. In that division and that conference there is no guarantee they make the playoffs. They could end up 3rd in that division easily.

Why even risk that? They could also win 13 games and hand over a pick in the 20s…. If the 13th pick in this draft is available, passing on it should get you fired.

He’s 28 and had two 900 yard seasons with MLF. He’s no stud but he’s at least comparable to Lazard and we could get him for less $$$.
I really want Elijah though. Think he will blow up with a good QB.

Davis is good when he plays, but he isn't a game breaker or anything overly special. I think just a good, solid, big, WR that is absolutely in the same tier as a guy like Lazard for me. Would be a fine move if it happens in a trade and if it doesn't, it still wouldn't surprise me to see him end up on the Packers if he does get cut.
