49ers Leadup - Purdy and Bosa OUT
Chance for some revenge. McCaffrey is back. Need to keep winning to stay in playoff position.

Extra rest? They're playing right now.
Kittles likely back.

Re: 49ers Leadup
Everyone keep your Bucks trade suggestions in the appropriate thread.
Kidding....we better have a better game plan next week or this team is gonna get stomped. Would be nice to beat the Niners.

Fixed. I misread the schedule and thought they played Thursday.

Kittle will be back and CMC looks like he is getting back into football shape just in time lol. Going to be a tough three weeks. I'll be content with 2-1 over the next three games.

Niners have been extremely unimpressive this year, even after CMC has come back.

Heading to the game. I'm not sure I like the 325 start. I hear the temp at game time will be 38ish. Just wait until the Sun goes down, I'll have to break out the snow pants.

If we can't beat the Niners now then I don't know if we ever will. They're not very good.

Re: 49ers Leadup
Looking at the playoffs... basically if the packers beat the niners and seahawks, they'd own all the tie breakers over the other NFC contenders for a WC (AZ, SF, Rams, Hawks). the only teams would be PHI, MIN, DET that would own the tie breaker and those teams are winning the div outside of minny.

For playoff seeding to matter, we have to win the division. To do that we probably have to win out as Detroit has been awesome this year.
I'm way more focused on cleaning up some of these terrible INT's by love, the playcalling in the red zone, and WTF happened to our defense / pass rush yesterday.
Need to be way better in all 3 of these to beat DET

You're probably right regarding seeding, especially after the Wildcard round, but I'd much prefer to travel to Atlanta(or whichever NFC South team) or to whichever NFC west team than to travel to Philly or Washington. Essentially I don't want to be the 7 seed
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I made this mistake a few years ago when I went to an afternoon game. It was around 50F at kickoff, and I run warm, so I figured I could survive with a lighter jacket and a sweater/jeans combo. But the sun was down by around halftime, the temp had dropped below 40F, and I spent the entire second half shivering cold.
The sun setting makes such a massive difference during these afternoon games.

Re: 49ers Leadup
Yeah I have some slight preferences when it comes to seeding but this year only Detroit really scares me and you probably need to beat them to win a chip so I don't care if they play the round 2 or NFCC.MVP2110 wrote:zmanishere11 wrote:neiLz wrote:Looking at the playoffs... basically if the packers beat the niners and seahawks, they'd own all the tie breakers over the other NFC contenders for a WC (AZ, SF, Rams, Hawks). the only teams would be PHI, MIN, DET that would own the tie breaker and those teams are winning the div outside of minny.

(Note, just because no specific team really scares me it doesn't mean I think GB is awesome and it will be a cake walk)
I really don't see the pack winning the division so a couple more wins and the Packers end of regular season games might not really matter much this year.

You will be a lot warmer if we're cruising to victory in the second half.

Re: 49ers Leadup
Yesterday Bosa left the game hurt in the third quarter. Seattle had three drives, including that one, from that point on: 70 yards for a touchdown, failed 4th down around the edge of FG range, 80 yards for touchdown.

Re: 49ers Leadup
Here's an interesting tidbit on Valentine, citing some measurable data. I'm with the folks who think the CB ranks drop off notably after Jaire (at least when he's on the field)

Carrington Valentine should start the rest of the season
Looking at the Packers’ options, Valentine is the clear choice

......So what have we learned about Valentine this month? To answer this, I point you to one of the most stable defensive back metrics we have: Yards allowed per coverage snap played.
Over 99 coverage snaps at the outside cornerback position, as defined by NFL Pro’s player tracking data, Valentine has allowed just 43 yards as the nearest defender to the ball (Pro Football Reference has him giving up 37 yards this year if you want a second source). That’s good for 0.43 yards allowed per coverage snap. How does that rank? Well, among the 87 cornerbacks this season who have played as many snaps as Valentine, the league-wide average is 1.07 yards per play. Out of those 87 cornerbacks, only one has allowed fewer yards per coverage snap than Valentine.
Yes, this means that Valentine is edging out star players like Pat Surtain II, Devon Witherspoon, Marshon Lattimore and Jalen Ramsey, who all also rank in the top 10 in the stat among players with as many snaps as Valentine in 2024. That’s...pretty good and shouldn’t be ignored.....
