I like him. Had him going a round later, but they must really like him.

Still wanted an EDGE/CB though.

Not a great run blocker despite the size. More of a finesse pass blocker.

Shocked.

Trade down if that’s who you’re going to pick.

Yep would've loved as a third or fourth. But they didn't wait so that must've been their man.

May be a sign that Walker and/or Rhyan aren't getting extended

Well this tells me they have zero intention of resigning Walker. Which is fine I guess.

Never in a million years did I expect OT on day two. Jordan Morgan just not gonna play?

PFF:

A zero-star recruit from the 2019 class, Belton spent his first few seasons at the JUCO level before transferring to NC State. After sitting for one year behind a top-10 pick in Ikem Ekwonu, he took over for him at left tackle in 2022 and held that spot for the following three seasons.

Like Ekwonu, Belton has the length and strength to overpower defenders. He’s also more explosive than most 350-pound tackles, as he can fire off the ball to find defenders at the second level or seal them off at the line of scrimmage. His raw power also gives him a good anchor in pass protection against bull rushes. Belton is still raw in a number of areas, including his punch timing, pad level and footwork. While he’s an explosive athlete, he’s not very quick. He has had issues with speed rushers in the past. Even though a sixth-year prospect with as many technical issues as Belton has could put off some teams, he has the tools to become a starting-caliber tackle down the line.

A raw 24 year old.

I get that they're future proofing the o-line and I mean if he's good then fine but more likely than not he's not going to touch the field this year unless we get hit with serious injuries so I don't understand burning a 2nd in this spot from that aspect.

O-line depth is important. And who knows if Morgan can stay healthy.

I just don’t understand reaching for an offensive lineman when you have needs at skill positions and players available to fill those needs.

There was near universal praise for Matthew Golden pick in round 1. The best that be said about this selection is befuddling.

Does anyone project Belton to start in 2025? If so, at what position?

If not, is taking a backup Tackle or Guard for the upcoming season a wise investment of a 2nd round pick?

This selection is not exactly a "ramp up the urgency" type of pick from the GM who declared it was time to start competing for championships in his end of the season press conference.

Second year in a row where they take an OL high when it absolutely wasn't needed. Morgan was a wasted pick. Belton probably is too.
