Ginn's Pro Day

was yesterday. From NFL.com:

On April 11, Ginn -- who did not run at the Combine or OSU's Pro Day -- worked out on campus before representatives of most of the NFL teams. He ran his 40s in 4.38, 4.44 and 4.45 seconds. He ran no shuttles and did no jumps, and because of his sore foot, stopped running routes after doing about 20 of them. Three head coaches were there: Scott Linehan (Rams), Marvin Lewis (Bengals) and Cam Cameron (Dolphins). Also there were Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller and Rams vice president for player personnel Tony Softli.

Do Packers generally send some rep to these things? Seems they would if seriously interested. IF keeping 16 then Pack can't count on Lynch being there and would be at least considering Ginn. Bet is that TT is trading down.

Those numbers are not nearly as good as I thought they would be. Of course if he is still hurting, its understandable. I guess with a guy like him in this situation, you just have to trust the game tape a little more, which is what I usually do anyway.

This is what I don't get...didn't he simply sprain his ankle? That was late January, almost three months ago. How can this still be a lingering problem?

I think it was a hairline fracture...but even if it were just a sprain, ankle sprains often take much longer to heal than a broken bone...

but either way, 12 weeks post injury, you'd think he'd be over it by now. That doesn't bode well for him....

His doctor told him everything would be fine by the start of the training camp.

Oh, did I mention that he uses the same doctor as Bobby Simmons? It's a Dr. Nick Riviera ...

And now it all makes sense...

I wouldn't mind Ginn at #16 assuming we don't get Moss. If we do get Randy, I'd like to see Lynch, a CB (hopefully Revis), or trade down.

He probably stopped running routes because the scouts got tired of seeing 20 fly-routes in a row.

I've never been a big TGJr fan as a WR prospect, and I think I would still prefer Meachem. I definitely acknowledge that he could turn into a real good one, though - especially when you take into account his return ability. I'm just not concerned with our return game with Robinson and Blackmon on the team. I just never really liked him much outside of his stellar return game or some gimmicky end-around plays. I did enjoy when OSU would direct-snap to him. I suppose that could be what they're looking for in a receiver to compliment Greg Jennings in the future, though. It would bring an interesting dynamic to the team that we definitely don't have.

Huh, I feel like I talked myself into TGJr :)

Is it me, or does Ted Ginn, Jr. remind you of Terry Glenn? Not just the OSU connection, but the fact that they're both burners with injury questions?

If TT thinks of him as a "special player" and he's there at 16, we've gotta take him. We haven't had a difference maker in special teams since Allen Rossum ... he had injury issues with us too ... I say we take him even if we get Randy Moss.

However, my guess is that he will go higher because:
1) Devin Hester changed the Bears' season with his returns
2) TGJr's TD return against Florida was in prime time
3) Speed sells. I can just hear an NFL scout saying: "He ran a 4.38 and he was injured at the time? I bet he could run a 4.1 if he was healthy ..."
