For a 4th round pick. He is in Boston to pass his physical. He redid his contract to make it work. Looks like he gets his Super Bowl.

It's funny watching so many teams bumble their way around and by contrast Belichick just keeps doing it the right way year after year.

haven't been around much to discuss the picks, but not dealing for Moss and instead drafting Jones is infuriating.

I'm pretty shocked right now.

There must be something behind it. Maybe Moss wasn't warm to the idea of coming to play for the Pack. There are so many factors that I'm sure we are unaware of.

I said it in another thread but a quick thread, but I'm surprised he went for a 4th (kudos to guys like BP who predicted it). I'm not surprised TT didn't get in out it. Moss doesn't make us a contender so adding him doesn't seem smart. Adding him to a team with loads of mature leaders that's got to be the early favorite for the Super Bowl makes all the sense in the world.

Its not like this Randy Moss circa 1999 either.

That's why I wasn't a huge advocate of trading for him. I don't think he's the Randy Moss he once was. That said, the low price tag lowered the risk substantially and there's no question his talent would have provided an upgrade at a clear position of need. And that would have helped the Packers improve which should be the goal for every season.

The key is whether he would have toed the line in Green Bay. He's been a team killer in two different places now but based on the rumors Favre seemed confident he would've been fine with the Packers. It's obvious Belichick believes he'll stay the course in New England.

There's a reason why the Patriots have been so good under Belichick and why other teams bumble about and go nowhere. This is yet another example in my opinion. When the opportunity presents itself for your team to improve you take it.

Moss would have helped the Pack big time. No doubt about that. Too bad TT couldn't get this one done. I'm sure the Raiders would have rather shipped Moss to the NFC.

I suppose Moss preferred NE.

That really hasn't been their MO, however. For years they've let talent go to acquire draft picks. It's only now that they're on the cusp that they've gone crazy in trades and free agency.

I can't criticize TT for this because we don't know what went on behind the scenes.....it's entirely possible that Harlan and some higher ups vetoed this because of negative fan reaction that might occur. Whether we all want it or not, there are a bunch of old-timer types who wouldn't want Moss wearing the green and gold and have voiced concern to the front office.

The other part is whether TT and the braintrust felt Moss would help or hurt Mike McCarthy. It's quite possible that Moss could ruin McCarthy if he got out of hand. That's a legitimate discussion topic and it's not worth having the team get torn apart which Moss has been known to do.

I have no problem with us not getting Moss. My bigger problem is the fact TT has really done nothing of note here this offseason, other than so far draft four guys that none of us have heard much of, and all have mixed grades from various scouts.

I am fine either way. It definately would have been a calculated risk, that I have no problem with the team deciding it wasn't worth the headache.

His MO has been to make smart personnel moves and add the necessary talent. The team was lacking playmakers on offense last season and he didn't hesitate to address that area of need.

Frankly, I would've rather had Darrell Jackson than Randy Moss. A fourth-round pick for DJax is a steal for the Niners.

I may have heard Mortenson say that Moss was willing to renegotiate his contract for the Pats but unwilling to do so for the Packers. That says to me that Moss prefered NE. I'm sure Oak would have given the opposing conference favored status if all other things were equal.

Maybe the X factor is Greg Jennings. Bringing Moss would knock him down to the 3rd WR and maybe the Pack feel he is going to make big strides this year.

I guess this can be analyzed from alot of angles. For better or for worse, it didn't happen. I've always been a believer in TT and I expect a competitive team in years to come.

Good point...another thing behind the scenes we just don't know about....
