Wait until people start getting cut in training camp. There are always some big surprises there.

Well there is no such thing as "June 1" cuts anymore so I don't know who, if anyone, will be out there. I'm sure there will be a few high priced guys cut as draftees start to prove themselves.

Having cap space helps when resigning your own guys but after this year only Corey Williams is a free agent.

I really like Williams, he came on strong has season, 7 sacks in 11 starts. Great numbers for an inside lineman. But who knows what his future will be with Harrell here.

Maybe that happens,but the big cap increase left fewer teams in cap misery.In past seasons you often had many teams needing to shed alot of money just to get their draft picks signed,not as much this year.

It's another reason i think why some teams were so willing to spend cash in free agency.There were alot of teams with alot of cap space and they know it doesn't all just carry over to the next year if it isn't spent.So you might overpay a bit for a free agent,but if the contract was structured in a way to take good use of the surplus of money this year,much less strain is put on the future because of the signing/signings.

Thankfully Thompson at least resigned Barnett using some of this year bounty of cap room and i'm hoping he does the same with Williams because i'd be more suprised than not if a good quality vet is cut and then signed by Ted fron June 1st moves.May as well use this cap space on something before the year ends and instead vanishes.

I think the Harrell signing provides some flexibilty with Williams, but I don't think it removes him from the team. He has the ability to play a little D-End and he is a superior pass rusher than Harrell so I think you'll see him in there on most 3rd downs. At minimum, he'll be a very valuable rotational dlineman.

We've got a GREAT young dline, with my only desire is finding a long term rush end to replace KGB.

wake up people! Tt likes to save money rather than spend it. take the time and look at how much cap money Tt saved the packers the last two years. Also take a look at how little he spent after 1 june and during the last 3 seasons.

i have no doubt the packers will be in the top 3 in money saved under the cap. tt has said many times he's not going to wastefully spend it on mediocre players. and that's all that's left. So, once again, he'll save that money.

So get prepared for that financial flexibility speech 86,098 times more.

There was no one worth giving huge money to this offseason, or at least the money that the players got. You use FA when you need one final piece, but the teams that build to contention do it through the draft.

Yep

His biggest problem was hiring Lopes and making poor choices with the big league club.He did though finally get the farm system on the right track after so many years of malpractice under Bando.

As for how much credit Thompson deserves in the success of Seattle,i don't think anyone here is qualified to say one way or the other.I'm sure Holmgren had plenty of influence in the draft,but only those directly involved know exactly how things went down in their draft rooms.
