Maybe you guys can help me out here. Why is it that every forum I went to a lot of people were saying, "Patrick would be good here" from about the 3rd round on. Why were people so high on this guy and why, in your opinion, did he fall to the 7th?

The people who wanted him in the third round and so on are the same people who don't like the Harrell pick, most likely.
Patrick in the 3rd...talk about a REACH.
Patrick went early 7th.
I guess people were desperate for a TE.

I think the media hyped him up probably more than what most NFL execs thought he was worth. I mean with those 3 picks in the 6th, if the pack thought he was worth a damn, they would have picked him over one of those linebackers. Maybe he is garbage. Its not like the Packers are not the only one who didn't consider him worth much. I guess that Arrigo guy was right in that they liked that Rutgers TE. He called that one and the Jackson pick right. He must really have some inside info cause no one even had those guys on our radar except for him.

Arrigo had everybody linked to Green Bay.

Exactly. If you throw enough dung against the wall, some of it is bound to stick.

Yup....the guy may have some sources there, but the fact that he claimed to know who they were looking at to draft is insane. If he knew anyone there, he would have mentioned Harrell at some point as a possibility, considering he was the #1 d lineman on the Packers board. Hell, the girl Paddy over there mentioned Harrell, along with Revis and Nelson as 1/3 players they would pick #1.
If someone like Bob mcGinn, who has long been one of the best reporters in the business, did not mention him as a strong possibility, then I highly doubt Arrigo has anything inside, particularly when it comes to the draft.

Maybe had something to do with paying attention to Mel Kiper and other so called experts that had Ben as #3 TE prospect and rated as round 3 pick value.

Good Point. I, like many of you, did predict we would trade down at least once and that we would pick a few guys I (we) never heard of so I guess we are all experts. haha

OT from the original post and not your main point, but is there any sports writer out there better than McGinn? The guy is fantastic and puts almost every national writer to shame.

He rose after his times came out. Without seeing him play I was intrigued and like others thought he'd be a target in 3rd or 4th.
Then I watched film of him and decided there was no way he looked like an NFL caliber player.
