Packers are my second favorite team so ill be posting here at times. Just thought I throw this out there. Reality or stupidity? Ill let you decide

Great article. I am all in favor of TT and the job he has done so far. Would have liked to get Jarrett or Rice in round 2 but didnt work out. Overall though, the way he is building this team is something I love. Through the draft, with HIS guys and who he believes is the BPA.

Not trading for Moss was just stupid. The Chiefs where also offering Larry Johnson for a first and a fourth. We could have offered a third for moss, and left the draft with two HUGE weapons to help Favre in what could be his last season. Instead we get to watch CFL Rbs, and raw WRs all year. Ted Thompson should be out on his ass. That was one of the worst draft days in Packer history.

Moss reworked his contract for New England, he wouldn't do so for the Pack. He wanted to play there and didn't want to play here. It's easy to criticize moves when you look just at the surface.

Jason Wilde on 1510 and Rob Dmaskey (sp?) of 1250am, both Packer insiders said Moss was willing to budge on his contract but we would not offer more than a 5th for him.

fact of the matter is that we did NOTHING to improve for this season. Yes, some of these players may develop, but that doesn't help us now.

Had we added Moss, his pressense would have opened things up for Driver and Jennings....helping our offense a ton since we will again rely on the pass this year since we do not have a RB that has proven anything.

Instead I see us getting into the red zone and kicking near every time this season.

I guess it is a good thing then that TT drafted a kicker....

TT got out manuvered last weekend. Lynch was their guy in the first and when Buffalo took him they had to shift to plan B. McCarthy can shout as long and loud as he wants that Harrell was the guy they coveted at 16 but you don't take your full 15 minutes to make the pick when the guy you covet is on the board. TT was shopping the pick but didn't get an offer he liked - even though it was reported that Cleveland approached the Packers with same offer they made to Dallas.
When Bowe and Jarrett disappeared right before the Packers picked, that again messed up TT's board. That's when TT decided to bail and move down.
TT still had holes to fill and the Lynch miss forced him to reach on the kid from Nebraska and the Bowe/Jarrett misses made him reach for Jones. I think he felt the Jones pick wouldn't have to reap immediate rewards because he had the Moss trade locked.
All it takes is the chips falling a little different than expected to mess up the plan. TT missed the RB he wanted by 4 picks and the receiver by two picks. He thought a fifth rounder would get Moss. So close yet so far away.

This was the longest first round in the history of the draft. Nearly every team waited a good 13-15 minutes before making their pick. Apparently you believe that most teams didn't get the guy they wanted?

Since people like using this term a lot, I'd say this post is a "reach."

Most intelligent people who know a little bit about football believe that you build a team from the lines back and if you look at the moves TT has made the past 2 years you can see this philosophy is coming through.

Last year GB drafted 3 offensive lineman who showed great potential and all 3 managed to contribute as rookies which makes me excited for what they will do in year 2. They also drafted and athletic freak of an offensive tackle this year who now has at least 1-2 years to be groomed to take over at left tackle.

On the defensive side of the ball, TT paid Kampman alot of money to keep him out of free agency and was ridiculed by the intelligent cheesehead crowd, he also sign Pickett, and was ridiculed by the intelligent cheeshead crowd......with those 2 you got 1 pro bowl player and an anchor of a tackle who graded out to have a very good season. You also had a staff that was finally smart enough to put KGB in as a situational player and give an opportunity to an up and coming player at the defensive end spot who has an incredible motor and alot of talent, that would be Cullen Jenkins, who is also resigned. This line had 1 opening for an impact player at the tackle spot, that has hopefully been filled by a player with worlds of talent and potential, not to mention also building some depth at the defensive tackle position.

So it appears both lines who were aging a great deal when TT took over, are in the process of being completely revamped.....this is where games are won and lost, not with an assclown of a receiver who cares only about himself and plays when he feels like it.

People forget how a great o-line will allow any rb with a shred a talent yards, i.e Denver. If we have a good enough o-line we can make even Morency pro-bowl bound.

No, I believe each team got the player they ended up selecting.
And why do you think it was the longest? Were the teams waiting for their Chinese to be delivered before they picked? Cigarette breaks? The GM had to go potty at the exact time they went on the clock?
Is it possible that most - if not all - of the teams were trying to improve their lie and were calling and taking calls for 15 minutes? Do you think for some teams that there might not have been a concensus in the draft room as to who they should pick and they needed all 15 minutes to come to a decision? Why would it take so much time to pick if the player they covet is there for the taking?
Obviously you believe every team got exactly who they wanted. And you know that's the truth because every team at their post draft press conferences told you they got exactly who they wanted. They would never lie to you, would they.
It is amazing how that works. Every year, in the first round, every team gets the exact player they wanted. Gee, you would think that there would be a year when someone would be disappointed.

You cover all your bases with every pick. Hell, the first **** pick in the draft often takes nearly all of the alloted time. Explain that one to me.

I don't remember exactly who said it...might have been Wolf or Sherman or Jimmy Johnson...but the quote was that the process leading up to the draft took months. They owed it to the organization to wait another 15 minutes before sending their pick in. You can infer what you will from that. But my guess is that you simply never know. Maybe a team calls at the last second with a ridiculous offer that would be impossible to turn down. Does that mean they like their target any less? No, it means they like the offer that much more.

Agreed...you wait the 15 minutes to see if a team will blow you away with a trade offer...also, the NFL loves teams who take the full 15 minutes b/c of the added time for more commercial advertising. The longer the 1st round takes, the more ads they can fit in, the more $ to the NFL.

When have you ever seen anyone take 2 minutes and made the pick? Hell, we watched Olsen put on a Bears cap a good 5 miinutes before the pick ws announced by the Commish....hmmmm, I wonder why...
