What would you have done?

So now, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, who would you have drafted, rounds 1-4?

#16: Jarvis Moss. Since Jenkins can play basically every position on the D-line, I think just the best DL possible would be the right move, and to me that's Moss.

I liked the trade of the 2nd round pick, and would have done it too, so:

#63: I like the Jackson pick.

#78: DeMarcus Tyler. Another DL, and another character risk, but enough upside to be worth it IMO. Also, you can never have too many DLs

#89: I like the Rouse pick.

#119: I would have tried to trade up from here to take Bush, and have another HB to compete for the starting job. But if that weren't possible, I'd have taken Marcus Thomas, for the same reasoning as #78.

It's hard to have hindsight before any games are played. Wait a year and THEN you can have hindsight. But a week after the draft... not yet.

I mean in terms of knowing who would get picked where. Aka, you now know who slid, who was reached for, etc. I thought that would be obvious, but I guess not.

I'd disagree with your list a bit, captain. In the Packers defensive scheme they want two fatties in the middle of the line to allow the LB's to run free. They don't have a traditional 3 technique DT, which is what Jenkins would be; DE wasn't a need, but a run stuffing DT certainly was.

I also disagree about the RB Bush. He would be a terrible fit in the zone blocking scheme.

As for who I'd take I have no idea. There aren't any reaches or sliders until the pads go on.

Though premature - Its still a fair question since most topics here are speculation and opinion.

I'd may have traded down and got an extra 2nd and drafted Greg Olsen with 1st.

With 2nd - I do do Jets trade and take Jackson

with 2nd 2nd - taken CB MaCauley

With 3rd - DT Tank Tyler 13/22 wonderlic

With 2nd 3rd - trade for 4th & 5th

4th - Barbre

2nd 4th - trade for Moss.

2 5ths ... pick best S

In 1st 4 rounds we get
on O - TE & HB & OT & Moss.
on D - DT & CB

I would have:

Took the place of the Jags and traded #16 to the Broncos for #21, #86 and #198.

Then I would have then took the place of Dallas and traded #21 to the Browns for #36 and the Browns 2008 1st round pick.

I would have then took the place of Dallas and traded #36, #86 and #157 to Philly for #26.

I would have then took the place of New England and traded #26 to San Fran #110 and San Fran

The Broncos only made the trade because we took Harrell. That kind of destroys your scenario.

We had ZERO pass rush from the defensive tackles last year.

If we can add one more B+ defensive tackle ...
... that can be added into a pretty good defensive line rotation
... and keep everyone on the line more fresh
... which will add more pass rush
... and there was a big drop off in DTs after that

Actually, let me stop there. If you look at the picks, review how many DTs were taken after Harrell.

1st round: ZERO
2nd round: 2 (Alan Branch @ #33, Turk McBride @ #59)
3rd round: 5

That says that either there was a huge dropoff after Harrell or that there was a lot of depth at DT so teams waited. I'm hoping it was the former. Maybe this was a value pick ... not necessarily because he was the best player available, but he was the best value available. Hmmm ...

1. Robert Meachem
2. Marcus McCauley
3. Marcus Thomas
3. Aaron Rouse
4. Brandon Jackson (I am THAT confident he would still have been available here. If not, some other scrub potential third down back)
Do it for Chuck
