Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Ahmad Carroll was arrested on weapon and drug charges early Saturday on suspicion of being involved in a disturbance with a weapon, authorities said.

The 23-year-old Carroll was questioned by police after he was pointed out as someone involved during a disturbance at an Atlanta restaurant, Atlanta police spokesman officer James Polite said.

Polite said Carroll acknowledged to police that he was carrying a 9mm pistol. Police then searched his car and found 11 pink tablets that were believed to be ecstasy. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon without a license, possession of drugs and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Carroll, an Atlanta native, was released Saturday on a $7,000 bond.

I heard the Bengals are high on him.

Ouch ... and he'll have a 4-8 game suspension attached to him when (or if) he signs with another team.

I think that ends his pro football career ... sad. I wonder if he hadn't been a reach as a first round pick and had been allowed to develop as a second rounder without the pressure of being a #1 if he might have turned out better?

Least they were 1/2 way smarter than the packers to cut him basically right away.

A conversation taped in the head coaches office at the Houston Texans headquarters between Mike Sherman and Gary Kubiak........
Shermy: Alright Kubiak, I heard one of my best draft picks ever, Ahmad Carroll, is available. We need to trade our number 1 draft pick in 2008 to get him.
Kubiak: Uh Shermy, Ahmad Carroll was cut. There is no team to make a trade with.
Shermy: And to a lesser personnel guru, that would pose a problem. Listen Kubiak, I used to be a GM in this league and I know a lot more about this kind of stuff than you do. Now shut up and learn something. All we have to do is wait until a team signs Carroll and then they can make the trade with them!
Kubiak: Wow Shermy, that's brilliant! Boy, the Packers sure were dumb to get rid if you.
Shermy: Ya, their loss. But stick with me kid. I'll teach you everything I know.
