The guy might be the most underrated player in the NFL. I'm not sure if you guys realize it, but he led all lineman in both tackles and sacks; that is unreal.
I certainly had no idea he could be such a force as a pass rusher. His contract is a massive bargain if he continues to play this way.
I just thought I'd give him some love and throw out that stat about tackles and sacks. His ridiculous year kind of flew under the radar last season.

Kampman is certainly solid, even all-pro but he shouldn't have that many tackles if he is dominant---teams would run away from his side all of the time as a game plan. Unless those tackles occur when he is playing inside.
Still he does get better every year.

He also led DL in tackles two years ago. What makes you think they were running to his side very often with KGB lined up on the other side?
I also don't think he played inside much at all the last two years. Not only that, but players playing inside generally get fewer tackles than DE's anyway.
He makes a ton of tackles when the play goes the other way because he has a great motor so he often makes the tackle from the weak side. He also makes tackles when the play is to his side because he is very strong at the point of attack, he has great awareness, and he sheds blockers very well.
Guess who tied Kampy for tackles as a DE in 2005: Michael Strahan. He was pretty damn dominant against the run even that late in his career. In 2006 it was Justin Smith, another DE that is great against the run.

I do believe that Kampman will continue to improve--he has every single year. With Harrell and Pickett and Jenkins teams will not be able to focus on Kampman. Playmakers aside, the Number One strength that determines field position and hence, victories, is the front defensive 7.
The Packers look very strong there.

Not bad for a non-athletic overachiever who certainly isn't in the top tier of D linemen in the league. Clearly, I'd rather have a player who can potentially dominate every 8th play.
