What camp are you in? Rodgers.

I was listening to the FAN this morning and Roookie was talking about Aaron Rodgers and how he believes there are two camps that the fans are in.
One thinks that he is Junk and was a waste of a first round pick.
The other thinks that right now he isn't the answer BUT should get a shot to prove what he can do before they make their final decision on him.
If these are the only two options (hypothetical) what camp are you in?

So one group is stupid and the other isn't.

I don't see it like that. I see it as one group has given up, and the other is willing to take a chance...even if they think he is crap.
Gamble either way.

I haven't given up on Aaron Rodgers. He really hasn't had a chance to prove himself, but I've been hearing he is in the best shape of his life, and his footwork has improved a lot.

Where's the gamble? The guy hasn't even gotten a shot yet. I don't get how people can call him a wasted pick or a bust if he hasn't even had a chance.
I also don't even think some people realize how young he is.
These guys are older:
Vince Young
Jay Cutler
Matt Leinart
Jason Campbell
Kellen Clemens
Charlie Frye

Oh come on....either way is a gamble.
Have you ever watched him practice? Have you watched him when he has been in games with our number ones and the other teams number ones? Do you know what some of his teammates think about him?
I don't think you do.
Even if he has only played a matter a quarters, you can still have a feel for a guy.
While I feel that I am a bit niave for thinking this way, I give him a shot because I feel the packers will, but I heard right from Ahman Greens mouth that Rodgers isn't half the player that life time back up Doug Peterson is.
He said he is a nice guy with football skills, but he will never be a leader. What % do you think a QB needs to have in the skills vs leadership? TO be an NFL QB you obviously need to have skills, but the better ones control the offense, and run the team on the field. If he can't do that, than no matter how good he is, it will be for naught.
THe play I have seen from him this summer has swayed me to give him a shot, but not a lot of room to make a ton of mistakes....much like Shermans last year.
Meaning I give him a shot, but I don't see him making it....

He certainly deserves, and will get a shot at some point. I've posted all about the long list of Tedford coached quarterbacks who flame out in the NFL. But that certainly doesn't mean he shouldn't get a chance.

I don't really see how you can give up on somebody who hasn't even had a chance yet.

Phillip Rivers is a Tedford guy. He's doing alright.

I want A-Rod to get a shot and get it this season.....I think he's the best QB on our roster right now from my fan perspective and there should be an open battle for the job unless Favre looks good the next pre-season game.
Whether that means he's the answer I don't know. I just think he's better than Favre right now.....

Rivers went to North Carolina. Tedford coaches at Cal and has since 2001.

No one can say AR is the best QB on the team based on part of one preseason game. Once he performs well in a real game, then we'll see.

Rivers went to NC State for accuracy purposes and I don't believe Tedford coached him. Its time for Rodgers to get his shot and I hope it happens sometime this year..

Did anyone else listen to the FAN this morning and here this debate? (obviously you must live in the GB area).
Based on the calls, I figured more people would be on the Aaron is junk bandwaggon...since nearly everyone calling in said that he's had his chances to show us something....and he never has.
Most talked about hasselbeck, and how we knew we had something in him, but with Aaron, he is no where near Hasselbeck in the same situation.
We are a rebuilding team, and I don't know that Manning could come in here and make us a much better team....Still have no quaility at RB. Still have a young line, still have 1.5 WR's....still no tight end......

I just don't know what the guy has to do for some people. He had a QB rating over 90 last pre-season. He looked fantastic last week.
I'd hoped that when Brett finally retired or the time came for him to step aside, that whomever his successor was would get a fair shake. Obviously Rodgers won't.

cue the tragic whailing violins.
That's a wild leap there even for you DB. Your boy AR will get his shot IF he deserves one and M3 is the best judge of that regardless of our opinions.

He will get a fair shake. But a rating of 90 in the preseason means nothing.

I've thought Rodgers was going to be good since we drafted him and I haven't changed that opinion. He's mobile, accurate, smart, and has a good arm and I've been saying it since day 1.

I said in an earlier thread,if Rodgers does pan out,one the best thing that happened to his career was getting drafted by Green Bay.He looked terrible as a rookie and was nowhere near ready to be on an NFL field starting games at QB.If he had been a high first rounder and forced out there as a rookie,it would have been very ugly.
He now looks so much more poised and comfortable,i'm feeling alot better abut his future.
