First round of cuts includes Ingle Martin

The Green Bay Packers cut 11 players today:

QB Ingle Martin
WR Carlton Brewster
TE Joe Werner
C C.J. Blomvall
G Patrick Murray
FB Erryn Cobb
RB P.J. Pope
DE DeVon Hicks
LB Juwan Simpson
CB Antonio Malone
P Ryan Dougherty

Martin, a fifth-round draft pick of the Packers out of Furman last year, probably was the biggest name on the cut list. His departure leaves three quarterbacks on the team's roster, with rookie free agent Paul Thompson behind Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers roster must be down to 75 players by Tuesday and 53 by next Sunday.

I like they cut Martin-was a stupid pick -I thought Gradkowski or Omar Jacobs made more sense. I think Thompson shows potential, but needs a lot of work -PS? PJ Pope had some ability, but injuries killed that. The rest were just camp bodies.

Not that it matters much, but i liked the leg Dougherty showed and wouldn't be surprised if he made a different team.

As for Martin, that guy has never once looked impressive

Considering I'm better than Martin, this is a good move.

Go with 2 QB's and give the roster spot to someone that deserves it.

DB is not going to be happy. He was all impressed with Simpson for some reason.

Thompson should be cut too. He had to picks in the redzone.

Thompson is raw, he's new to the system. Martin has been around awhile. I'll go with the raw guy anytime. Thompson may be gone soon but I'd keep him over Martin.

Thompson will be cut and added to practice squad I believe....he is there so A-Rodg does not have to play the entire Titan game with a shotty 2nd team offensive line. I just believe Martin disgusted McCarthy so much he just wanted him gone....fast.

Getting embarrassed by what was equivalent to maybe a Varsity High School team is going to do that.
