OT: Vikings get Holcomb

Post#1 » by Comet » Mon Aug 27, 2007 9:24 pm

Saw it in the Wiretap.

Decent stopgap starter. At least this means Tavaris Jackson is still raw, who I hear is pretty talented.

Oh yeah, and here's the story from ESPN.com

The Eagles got a sixth-round pick.

Could Bollinger start? I find it hard to believe Holcomb could come in and unseat him.

I wouldn't think so. Why would the Vikings acquire Holcomb if they felt Bollinger could keep the seat warm for Jackson? The Vikings are going nowhere this season, but I think they're trying to do whatever they can to improve their team.

EDIT: Although Worm Guts (mod from the Vikings board) said in the General NFL board that Holcomb will be the backup, so nvm.

Jackson, Bollinger, Holcomb. Flip a coin, they all blow.

I think Holcombe is just extra insurance in the event (which is likely) that jackson struggles. Bollinger sucks assss-he was so bad in the last preseason game they knew they needed something better then him as Jackson's backup. Look for them to run-run-run with Chester and peterson. Holcombe is not a bad pickup, look for him to come in at some point this year. he was expendable with Kolb looking great and Feeley there as the #3.

While Holcomb is by no means a world-beater, he's a definite upgrade compared to what they have. He's started quite a few games and had a 400+ yard 3 TD playoff game vs. the Steelers.

Well I for one am afraid of a 34 year old career backup who has 37 career TD's to go with 37 career INT's.

It's really stupid if they start him. They might as well let Jackson take his lumps.
