NFL Cuts - Packer connections, and possible interest?

Post#1 » by deep throat » Sun Sep 2, 2007 2:50 pm

Some names -

Ravens-Bill Swancutt DE
Bills-Craig Nall QB-never liked this guy, but some GB fans did.
Bears-Chris Leak QB
Cowboys-Arliss Beach RB Joey Thomas CB
Texans-Tyrone Poole CB, Jared Zabransky QB, Darius Walker RB
Jags-Roy Manning LB
Miami-Robert McCune LB
Saints-Antonio Pittman RB 4th round pick, but they are VERY deep
Jets-Michael Haynes DL
Raiders-Zack Crockett FB, Donnovan Darius S, TE OJ Santiago, Antaj Hawthorne DT Dave Tollefson DE
Eagles-Jeremy Bloom WR/KR/PR

Seattle traded Michael Boulware S for Jasin Babin DE.

The only one I see that would have interest in is Antonio Pittman. Maybe Robert McCune as a backup LB, and Jeremy Bloom as a return specialist.

Almost all of those Raiders cuts are interesting/intriguing but I haven't followed some of those guys for a while. Hawthorne maybe just for the hometown connection but we don't need another DT. Santiago, Darius, and Crockett are all probably getting too old, too.

Pittman was severly outplayed by undrafted FA Pierre Thomas.

How do you think Darius Walker feels now that he was undrafted AND cut after leaving early. I guess I wouldn't want to go back to that ND team either, though.

the broncos released fb kyle johnson. i think that's a guy worth picking. he knows the zb scheme already. i mean there's gotta be a reason he got cut but i'm sure he's an upgrade over a recently converted linebacker.

the niners released TE Zach Hilton. if i remember correctly he had a decent year when he was with the saints. he'd be an upgrade at 3rd string TE and could even beat out lee and franks for all we know.

i'm also crossing my fingers that the broncos cut mike bell sometime this week as well. i heard they want to convert him into a fb, but if he has the opportunity to get some carries in GB i'm sure he'll bolt for that.

donovan darius is worth looking at too i suppose. he's got pro bowls under his belt. we could use some depth in the secondary still.

..they have a lot of big holes to fill yet, kinda scary the season starts in less than a week. TT better step up to the plate here.

I would like Thomas, but he's (Pittman)the guy they let go. Thomas was another guy that Ted screwed up-should have brought him in.

TE Ben Patrick was cut by the AZ Cardinals.... He was a TE that a bunch of us liked. apparently, he's been struggling with a hammy injury.

Patrick was a guy I was intrigued by before the draft until I actually saw him play. Nothing about him stood out when you watched him on film. I wasn't surprised when he fell to the 7th.

I think people were looking for the next Vernon Davis and in a weak TE draft they found Patrick. The problem is he doesn't have near the wheels of VD and played against real low competition. You look at his numbers and nothing really stands out, not sure why some draft guys took such a shine to him.
