Driver, Morency return to practice

Post#1 » by crkone » Sun Sep 2, 2007 9:33 pm

Green Bay - In the 45 minutes of practice open to the media, Packers wide receiver Donald Driver was on the field and participated in his first practice since spraining his right foot against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 23.

Despite being in a boot as late as Thursday's game against the Tennesse Titans, Driver looked very healthy. No noticeable limp or anything else that would indicate he wouldn't be ready for next Sunday's season opener.

RB Vernand Morency appeared to be participating fully for the first time and also looked healthy. He got a lot of personal work with QB Brett Favre on the side. Looked like a tutoring session.

Formerly injured players also on the field and participating: RB Brandon Jackson (concussion), S Aaron Rouse (hamstring), OG Jason Spitz (calf), OT Tony Moll (stinger), OG Tony Palmer (hamstring), and DE Kabeer Gbaja-Biamilia (knee)

Fullback John Kuhn, who was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers, had not arrived in time to practice. DE Michael Montgomery (knee) continues to be out.

They will need all the help they can get for the first 3 games of the season. Because if driver was out for an extended period of time it wouldn't be pretty.

It would hurt, but Jones would just shine all that much more. He wouldn't be that big a loss. I'm more worried about Morency.

To bad we couldn't take a poll of the players and coaches as to who is more valuable to the team. A pro-bowl receiver vs. a RB who was traded for Samkon Gado...........let me think about that one for,.... oh........ 1 second.

You are right in an injury to Driver would give Jones a chance to shine, but that is putting a lot of weight on a rookie WR.

Well if we did enough end arounds, Jones could be our new RB!!!! Speaking of end arounds, anyone want to see one with Carlyle Holiday were he ends up throwing the ball instead of running it.

When your as thin and weak at RB-it could be Morency. Driver made the Pro Bowl on stats (only experienced vet a year ago), but I would hardly call him one of the elite WRs in the league. He also dropped more passes then anyone in the NFL. He is a great #2 WR, and a decent #1 in my opinion.
