Official Predictions Game 1

I think the Eagles match up pretty well against the Pack. They can neutralize our D-Line with one of the top 5 O-lines, and take presure off of Mcnabb with Westbrook and LJ Smith (although Smith isn't 100%). The Eagles DBs are a strength, and with a weak running game Favre and these young wideouts will be put to the test (how often will they miss assignments?).

I see a pretty close game 17-13 (Eagles victory).

Stories of the game:

Pack's running game stalls. Defense plays well, but gives up the big play.

I think McNabb and Westbrook put on a clinic to the tune of 31-17.

Favre and his WRs look good. But an inability to do anything on the ground means Favre begins to take chances in the second half and he ends up throwing two picks that essentially decide the outcome.

With the Packers at home, I am going to take them and that improving D. The Eagles killed us last year in their stadium in a turnover laden game. I am going to count on our D to start acting like they own this league and to get some electric take aways. I will say Packers by 4 and a huge game by James Jones.

I see a close game where Packers red zone offense fails to capitalize. I think we can pass on the Eagles in the middle of the field, but with the lack of running game, red zone offense is harder to come by.

I will say right now the Eagles won't put up 30 points. I expect our D to play well. I think they make enough plays to win though, with Westbrook being the main culprit.

17-13 Eagles.

It's a close game for most of the first 3 quarters. Favre has a very good game, taking what is given. At the end of the 3rd and into the 4th quarter when teh Eagles Dline is run down, the Packers will start opening it up with the run and maybe a big pass after the the run is loosened up.

Final score, 24-13 Packers with 14 points coming in the last 20 minutes of the game.

I think we have a 4th quarter team because of the depth of our dline and the conditioning of our Oline. They might not be the biggest guys, but they are some of the most fit Olineman and they stand a chance to be stronger in the 4th than most fat guys. We have a very deep Dline as well and they should be stronger in the 4th quarter because they can rotate more than most teams. Overall, I think this team is built to not make a mistake in the first 3 quarters and then win it in the 4th quarter.

I expect a big win and then the kool aid will start pouring throughout this forum. Right now people just don't realize how strong this Packer team is. It won't be long and people will start to find out.

I have a really good feeling about this one, but it definitely could go either way. I see it shaping up similar to our games vs. New Orleans and St. Louis last season. Close games, its just a matter of who takes advantage of the opportunities. Field position will be the key to me. If the Pack can shorten the field for their offense, and make Philly put together long drives, I think we'll be alright. The D is good enough to hold Philly, and a shorter field should help the offense.

Not sure if its the Packer goggles, but I'll say: Packers 20 Eagles 16.

I think we win. Its the home opener and homefield is always an advantage.

People are concerned about the running game, but at the very least Jackson is good to go and I'd wager on Morency being ready for spot duty. The Eagles run D blows, so we will be surprisingly effective on the ground.

Our D is good enough to shut down the running game for the most part while also getting good pressure on McNabb. I will be watching how they try to exploit Pop in coverage against LJ Smith and Westbrook. That is my main area of concern.

I won't predict a score, but we win.

Why is everyone making a big deal about it being the home opener for the packers you guys got blown out by the bears last year in your home opener so that is a bunch of BULL $%^T

And the Bears were one of the best teams in the NFL. Philly is not.

This is a PACKERS BOARD. Stop telling us how we should be acting or what we should be saying. If you want to do that garbage on the Philly board, go ahead. We care about the Eagles for one game a year, other than that we could give a crap.

And last year is IRRELEVANT in the NFL. I could make examples until I'm blue in the face, but I will not. And Chicago last year is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the Eagles this year, for reasons that would take hours to list off.

Packers 34, Eagles 10. I see the Packer defense dominating the game with a couple touchdowns of their own. This victory will feel so sweet. I don't know if there is a team I would rather see the Packers blow out. The Eagles leave a bitter taste in my mouth due to the recent history of losses against them.

I'm gonna take a "wait and see" approach on our running game this weekend. Too add to what Ayt is saying.. In 2006, Philly was pretty bad vs. the run. 7th worst in YPGame, giving up 4.5 ypc. And I know that Trotter wasnt really an all-world LB but he was one of their best defenders they had Vs the run. If this were week 3 and SD was in town, i'd be worried about the run game. We'll see.

GB 24-Philly 20

Barnett will keep Westbrook in relative check (I hope). The WRs dont scare me. Yes McNabb will create but i see this D causing some trouble for opposing offenses this year.

Regarding Westbrook, He's never really wowed me. I know he get's good numbers but i find it hard to look at him like he's some big game-breaker. Good player? yes. The D will be able to deal with him. McNabb is obviously the X-Factor.

I'm surprised so many here are thinking this will be a low scoring game.

I don't see why. The Packers have a very good, potentially dominant defense, poor running game and decent but not elite passing game. Eagles have a very good offense, average defense.
