Love for our young players from Scouts Inc.

I thought I'd post some of their updated scouting reports.

Jennings provided an explosive weapon for the Packers offense with his tremendous run-after-catch ability. He stepped in last season as a rookie and became a productive starter. Jennings is a versatile athlete capable of returning punts and kicks, but he quickly became one of Brett Favres favorite weapons as a complement to Donald Driver. Jennings shows good technique releasing off the line of scrimmage and can read coverage, finding soft spots in zones and a nice series of moves and acceleration to separate versus man coverage. He also plays with enough of an extra gear and body control to be a serious deep threat. He uses great quickness and change of direction skills to beat defenders in space. He is a smooth route-runner and uses his burst to get into and out of his cuts quickly. Jennings did miss some game time with injuries but it is too early to label him a durability problem. Overall, Jennings made a very positive offensive impact for the Packers and has the ability to develop into an elite receiver.

Hawk, the fifth overall pick in the 2006 draft, rewarded the Packers for their faith in him with an outstanding rookie season. He brings excellent football instincts and a nasty disposition to the field, flying around with great intensity. He has excellent recognition skills and does a great job of identifying, reading, diagnosing and reacting and then taking good angles to the football. He brings an explosive snap of the hips to make powerful tackles inside, and has the body control and quick burst to close and then break down and make plays in space. Hawk is an old-school linebacker who can take on isolation plays inside and also excels as a weakside playmaker with his sideline-to-sideline range. He shows impressive body control with both lateral explosiveness and the agility to change direction in space. As a blitzer, Hawk has a knack for finding his way to the football. He is solid in coverage with good range in zone and the ability and ball skills to matches up fairly well with most running backs and tight ends in man coverage. He must continue to improve in coverage, but overall Hawk is an outstanding linebacker with the ability and desire to develop into an elite NFL player.

Collins is kind of a forgotten man around here. I think most aren't sure what we'll get out of him this year.

Collins is an impressive starter who continues to develop his skills and aggressive style of play. He has excellent range playing high safety and covering his zone with very good closing speed, and when dropping down in run support. He plays with intensity but must improve his awareness and recognition skills as he is susceptible to biting on play-action or double routes. Teams take advantage of his inexperience and aggressive nature, creating opportunities for explosive plays. Despite being a bit undersized he excels as a run-and-hit play maker and is quickly establishing himself as an intimidating free safety. He is also a good match up in man coverage against all but the most elite receivers. Collins brings a load when coming downhill in run support, arriving in the force alley with a vengeance. He continues to improve and is capable of becoming a top-tier free safety.

2 potential elites and a potential top-tier player, plus a backup QB who showed signs of being able to play well, multiple promising O- and D-linemen, and another receiver who looks like a gamer. I can honestly say that I haven't felt this way about the Pack since around the '93-'94 season--you knew they had a glut talented young players and were just hoping they'd all hit at the same time.
