THE PACKERS ARE WINNING THE DIVISION!!!!!

Post#1 » by Comet » Sun Sep 23, 2007 11:37 pm

I predicted that the Packers would suck this season. I thought they would have a dysfunctional offense. I thought that Donald Driver was our only weapon and we wouldn't have a running game.

It's still early, but it looks like I'm wrong. We still don't have a running game, but man, our receivers look great. Donald Driver is Donald Driver, and for the first time since 2004 when have players to compliment him. James Jones and Greg Jennings look great.

Plus our defense looks great too. Our special teams is better.

I'm sold on them. I think they're going to overtake the Bears. The Bears offense is dysfunctional, and they have a shaky secondary. They couldn't beat the Chargers, but we did.

I'm confident that they'll win the division, but if they don't I guarantee they will grab a wild card spot.

Gonna wait on the division thing until I see the Bears some more. Tonight is a huge game for them. If Grossman looks like, well, Rex Grossman, I'll allow the thought of the Packers winning the North.

I agree, they look really good, but there are 14 weeks left to play....

I hope we stay healthy, and put ourselves in position to make the playoffs.

Still too early for guarantees IMO....but I am very happy so far!

Way too early to vote IMO. We haven't played a division game yet.

Yes we have looked good, we beat 3 playoff teams from last year.

But a couple of injuries, a couple of bad calls, and we could lose a few in a row.

I'm not worried about the Queens or kittens. But the Bears defense is still top notch and a good defense will win you many games.

Next week will be a real test to see if our guys buy into all the hype they'll recieve this week.

The best thing that can happen to the Packers is that Lovie Smith continues to stick with Grossman when no other coach with an ounce of sanity would.

I said before the season that we'd make the playoffs (as a Wild Card). I still am unsure about the division, but we look real good right now.

I admit I never expected this start predicting 6-10 BUT said that IF we stayed injury free we might go 9-7 and maybe win wild card. Hope I'm wrong on both statements and we win division as Comet predicts.

It seems Central is weak again and its open to whoever wants it the most.
IF GB goes 5-0 beating Queens and Bears next 2 weeks (I think they can and will) I will join Comet's prediction.

For me 3 factors -

1) Injuries still the key. IF a top 3 WR or Clifton go down long term so does Pack's playoff hopes. IF a TE goes down it will be hard.

2) How will team handle success? Keep focused or get over-confident? That's on McCarthy and the vets like Harris and Barnett and Tausch and Driver. I'm liking M3 more and more. I expect more success.

3) Running game. Will Pack even be able to run when teams key on the pass? Will Morency make a difference? I doubt it. Unless O-line ZBS actually opens some holes.

I shared eagle's less than optimistic outlook on the season.

But the fact is they just got done beating the best team in the league last year when they were healthy. I understand we were at home and the Chargers have serious coaching issues, but it was a legit, sound victory. You couldn't say, "Well so and so was injured" or "It was the first game of the season and there was rust on the opposition". This was a game that most penciled in as a loss. I certainly thought it'd be the toughest test we'd face all season.

But now you look at the rest of the schedule and I don't see any games in which the Packers shouldn't be able to compete. The toughest will be at Dallas as far as I can tell.

But there are a host of teams I thought would be a lot better than what they've shown. St. Louis is a mess on both sides of the ball, particularly on the lines. Cutler isn't looking like he's made any type of a leap. KC couldn't run the ball to save their lives and the QB situation is a joke.Detroit's got the worst defense in the league. I like the Packers' chances at home against Carolina.

I said I'd wait and see on Chicago. Well, after what I saw last night I'm ready to write those clowns off. I said it at the beginning of the season that they certainly didn't scare me with Benson back there. He's garbage and Rex might be the worst starting QB in the NFL. I don't care how good that defense is; that offense is putrid.

Right now, I think 9-7 would be a massive let down after this start.

You guys got the division pretty handily, ICLO. Favre looks like he's turning 28 in a month, not 38. Your defense is a little overrated right now but still pretty darn good. You're by far the most balanced team in the division right now:

- Chicago: no offense, no defense now with so many injuries.
- Detroit: very good passing game, lackluster running game, poor defense.
- Minnesota: best defense in the division now, but their offense can only do so much with Jackson at QB.

Wouldn't be surprised to see you win 10 or 11 games now.
