How Sick Could This Team Be Next Year?

Assuming TT uses some cap (We should have far and away the most of any team this coming off season) we should be able to build quite the contender next season. We already have established a solid D. So if we could add some offensive pieces and some depth through free agency (and of course the draft), we could be really scary next year. But I am going to enjoy the ride this year, although I feel our lack of running game will be our Achilles heal in the end...but we are currently the 2nd best team in the NFC right now! That would put us on pace for a 1st round bye! :o

Is that really how you want to start a post?

well his mentality is to sign free agents to get over the hump and make a push for the super bowl, he didn't sign any big free agents this off season because he didn't know if this team was going to be a playoff team or a team that is a few years away. it is now pretty obvious that we are a playoff contender and are not all that far away from making some big noise in the NFC, so thats why I said assuming he will use the cap this off season.

Depends on who our QB is....With no running game, and no one really knows what Rodgers can do for a whole game....

Can we really make predictions for next season?

Yes, we could make the playoffs this year and even make a run at winning the NFC and getting to the SB. And then end up like the Saints next year, or the Chargers, or the Bears etc. I'm going to stay excited about this team and this year. We all know how things can take an 180 degree turn from year to year in this league.

Not sure what big name free agents are out there next season. But i'm sure we continue building through the draft like usual. I'm sure we go after LB to replace Hodge. I'm sure we get depth at OL. Possibly a corner to learn from our 2 probowl corners. Possibly draft a RB and FB maybe TE. Also depends who we lose in free agency and who retires and who is injured.

You have quite a few backs who could help us out a lot. Some of these guys might not be, it's according to a site I was browsing, but Michael Turner, Chris Brown, Julius Jones, and TJ Duckett will all be available. The wide receiver crop is rather bland this upcoming offseason but the tight end crop is pretty damn good with LJ Smith and Eric Johnson both available.

Um Im kinda pessemistic with Brett Favre not a lock to come back next year. If he retires and Aaron Rodgers comes up and stinks it up, we would be a poor mans Chicago.

As far as the Favre situation goes, there is NO WAY he doesn't play next year if the Packers make the playoffs and don't get completely stomped in the first round. He knows this team is on the upswing. He knows this team is showing a lot of promise, and I'd think he'd like to be around for that.
